Wormwood had been... pretty surprise when a kid had ended up showing up at the border. Ever since Kiira had been taken away – although she thankfully was back now – Tanglewood had pretty much completely been devoid of any children. It had sort of disappointed the lion, since he had always had a pretty big soft spot for kids. He enjoyed teaching them things, and protecting them from the cruelties of the outside world that had taught him things the hard way from the inside of his pride. He never wanted to be like his parents had been to him, and he never wanted any little kits or cubs or whatever suffering as he had. So ever since he had joined Tanglewood, he had decided that he was going to be an unofficial guardian angel to any children that showed up, just like he had been a guardian angel to his brother Poetking, ever since he had first been born.

The new kid in town, Rhea, was of course part of this vow. So, he had decided to find out where the kit had decided to make her home. Thankfully it didn't take too long with just a bit of looking around, and eventually the winged lion ended up on Rhea's porch, with a little basket clamped in his large and razor sharp jaws. He knocked on the door with his head before stepping back and putting the basket down. It had a couple of story books, as well as a few stuffed toys that were similar to the teddy that he had seen Rhea with ever since she had joined. Once he heard the kitval approaching the door, he flicked his tail and rumbled with a soft smile, [glow=#793B29,1,400]"Hey Rhea, it's Wormwood. We met at your joining? I wanted to give you some things."[/glow] He was pretty sure that Rhea couldn't read, considering the amount of members in Tanglewood that couldn't, but he wouldn't mind teaching her. He had only begun to learn a little while ago, since it hadn't been necessary back in the pride, but he had been.enjoying all the books he had read so far, and he knew of some very good children's storybooks that Rhea would – hopefully – be able to enjoy, and learn the good morals from.

LOST IN WONDERLAND

Rhea never had any siblings. She'd always asked about them since they started appearing in her parents' stories, but they always said that she was enough for them. After a while they stopped appearing in the stories, and she stopped asking about them. There was no one else in the world but her mom, her dad, and her. At least, that's how it had been before she moved to Tanglewood. She'd seen a lot of new creatures since coming here, but she'd never forget the shock of finding out that other creatures existed at all.

Wormwood was apparently a 'lion', though she'd almost mistook him for a Kitval at first due to his size. His tail was wrong, and he had no horns. Plus there was the weird long fur he had around his neck and face called a 'mane', and his ears were so small. Still, out of all the creatures she'd seen thus far he was one of the most familiar looking aside from Selby and Crow. "Oh, hi Wormwood, I remember you. What're these?" She poked the things in the basket, Teddy nearly falling off her back as she did. She never went anywhere without the bear, even if it was bigger than she was.

Wormwood couldn't help the faint smile that came to his muzzle when he saw Rhea come out with the teddy upon her back. Honestly he was kind of shocked she could even carry that thing, considering it was bigger than her, and she didn't seem like an overly strong child, but then again, he wasn't entirely sure what she was. She faintly reminded him of several different creatures he knew of, like cats or foxes, but... oddly different. Her little horns were definitely unusual for those creatures, and her ears were so huge they faintly reminded him of the ones he had seen on bats before. Of course, there were also the wings she had, but he wasn't as thrown off by those, considering he had his own set of wings he had recently grown, so he knew that it wasn't impossible for a creature that normally took the air like a rock to suddenly grow wings and be able to spring up into the air gracefully... although he hadn't quite mastered that part yet. His last attempt of trying to fly had been fairly successful, but ended like all the others: with him crashing face first into the ground.

Quickly shaking his head to calm his thoughts from getting too terribly off track, he smiled softly down at the kitval and rumbled softly as he pointed to things in the basket individually with a single large claw, [glow=#793B29,1,400]"Well, these things here are books. They have stories within them, written down by various people. They can be difficult to read if you don't know how, but I can teach you if you want."[/glow] He then shifted his claws over to the stuffed animals in the basket, being very careful not to pierce any of their soft bodies and to only point them out, [glow=#793B29,1,400]"These, meanwhile, are some stuffed animal friends. I noticed when you first joined that you had a teddy, so I figured maybe he could use some friends. They'll also make your bed nice and comfy, and your house more lived in, since I know these houses are kind of barren when you first arrive."[/glow] He had been here for a bit now, and certainly longer than her, and he knew that his house still didn't look too lived in, since he only had some pieces of furniture and some books.

Books, and friends for Teddy. That sounded nice. Then Worm could bring them over and they could have playdates. Wait, 'keep your bed comfy'? She sat down, pulling the basket closer as Teddy slipped off her back in a heap at her side. The kit shuffled through the basket's items, before looking up at Wormwood with a confused expression. "Do, do you mean...these are mine?"

At home, they did not have many possessions, they had their nests, and Rhea had Teddy. He'd been given to her back when memories were not as permanent as they were now, the one object she was allowed to keep. Perhaps that was why she was so possessive over it. She did not yet know of the blind rage she flew into when he was taken from her against her wishes.

Noticing the confusion in Rhea's eyes, he blinked in a bit of confusion as well. Hadn't she ever received a gift before? It seemed pretty clear from how she was reacting that she hadn't, and Worm felt a slight pang of sadness in his chest at this. That of course didn't mean that her parents had mistreated her as his had mistreated him, but it still struck him as an unfortunately familiar thing, and he suddenly felt a strong desire to just shower the young girl in gifts, just to let her know that she was appreciated. He quickly shook his head to ward off these interrupting thoughts, turning his attention back to the young girl in front of him.

Offering her a soft smile on his muzzle, Wormwood dipped his head in a nod and rumbled softly to Rhea, [glow=#793B29,1,400]"Yes, these are yours. They're a gift from me to you, in order to brighten up your house and make you happy."[/glow] He prays she understands and accepts the gifts without issue, not wanting her to not take them just because she wasn't used to receiving presents. This could be an exciting new thing for her, and he wanted her to get used to people caring enough to get her things and make her feel like she had a family.
