A CANDY CIG FOR A SPOILED BRAT | open, joining! - ˗ˏˋBENTLEYˎˊ˗ - 08-07-2019

[align=center][div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: 0px; font-family: verdana;"]The wild was much different from the neighborhood. There seemed to be pros and cons to both, even if Bentley's old friends from back in the neighborhood only ever thought negative things about the world outside of a comfortable and warm house. Although it was nice to be inside of a den, where food and comfort was always guaranteed and one was never required to take care of themselves, things had gone sour inside of the border collie's old dwelling.

Bentley had lived with an older man. It had just been him and his human, and they had spent a lot of time together going on walks and exploring the woods both nearby and in far off places. But things had started to change. The man had started going out more often and bringing home younger women, some of which Bentley had begun to recognize after their repeated appearances. It seemed like his human no longer had time or interest for the border collie, and the women he'd bring home were certainly not a fan of the fluffy and energetic dog either.

It had been the final straw for Bentley when one of the women had gotten angry at him for begging for food and quite literally threw him outside as the old man had sat idly by and watched. The border collie wasted no time. It took little to no effort for him to jump and fence and escape the large backyard. Who the hell put a low wire fence up when they had a herding dog anyways? Bentley ran like hell, darting through the trees surrounding the property with no real destination in mind.

It had been weeks since then, and the canine had been wandering, walking several miles every day. At first it had been hard to interact with the wild creatures he'd come across- mostly merchants and old loners- and it had been even more difficult to learn how to gather resources for himself. Although he was a fast learner, the stories of feral groups living and fighting together lingered in the back of his mind. Perhaps joining one didn't seem like such a bad idea after all.

This day had been like any other. Bentley trekked out through the foliage, no direction or idea of destination in mind. Though the more he wandered, the more he caught a pungent scent, drawing him foreward in intrigue and curiosity. And suddenly, he had emerged from the jungle, paws sinking instead into hot sand. He blinked in his confusion, tipping his head to the side and taking in the scene in front of him. The bright blue waters and the large volcanic island were beautiful! He was intrigued, drawn forth to explore by its presence alone. He moved on, headed towards one of the land bridges, but little did he know, the island was more than barely inhabited.

Starlight wasn't sure if his home had been.the wilds that currently surrounded him, or a nice warm home like the one that Bentley had ran away from, but either way, he would be happy to have them. The starry lost soul supposed that he would be happy with anything. After all, all he really wished for was to one day return to the state before he had ended up in the Typhoon. Not that they hadn't been treating him well in the few days he had been here, but it felt hard to connect to others when he had no frame of reference to try and interact with others. Everybody here seemed so connected, like a family, meanwhile he could hardly imagine actually having a family he remembered. He faintly wondered if maybe his old family – whoever's they had been – missed him. Perhaps like Bentley's owner may be missing him right now? Of course, just as Bentley's owner could be blissfully happy that he finally didn't gave to worry about the dog's presence, perhaps Starlight's family didn't even care enough to remember that he had once existed in their lives. Maybe he truly was just lost.

Starlight had spent the last few days becoming acclimated to the territory that their group occupied, since it would be his home, at least until he remember who he was, and perhaps afterwards. He hadn't been venturing as far out as the land bridges thus far, since the thought of going out on his own so far beyond the ship he had began to become used to was a bit scary. However, the starry pelted male had decided that he might as well go as far as the edge of the land bridge, his paws sinking into the sand and dirt beneath him as he looked downward, his glowing white eyes focused on nothing but his footsteps trailing behind him. He very nearly walked right into Bentley, before the scent of the canine alerted him to look up. His head snapped up almost unnaturally as he blinked silently at the other male, and he hesitated before realizing he should probably speak, for fear of seeming unsettling.

He flicked his star covered faintly dripping tail, taking in with a bit of disappointment that this new person also didn't have a pelt as unusual as his. He wasn't sure why he wanted to meet somebody else who wouldn't be so caught off guard by his elemental starry pelt, but he found that he did. Perhaps it was because he thought that maybe if he met somebody in common with him, they might know who he was? He quickly shook his head of his rapidly degrading thoughts and opening his muzzle, trying to recall how he had been welcomed into the group when he had ended up wandering over the land bridge in his dazed state, "Hello there, doggy..." The informal name was said without a hint of malice or sarcasm, rather just as a statement of what Bentley was, as if Starlight was reminding himself what a dog was, exactly. He then continued, sitting down and looking up at Bentley, his neck craned to take in the whole of the larger creature, "You're on the territory of the Typhoon, or rather, you're about to be... my name is Starlightbrigade, what is yours...?" He had forgotten to ask why Bentley was here, but he assumed that naturally that information would come around to the forefront when the canine realized he was about to enter a group's grounds.

idyllfields
stars did fall
captivity and the thought of it made the sage feel... bad for those who were stuck in it. most of idyll's childhood was spent in isolation to the outside world, but once they had move on from their plantation home and out into the world it had turned their views upside down. they saw dogs in bags held by their humans. cats batting at cardboard in houses. animals chained to tree's or fences and given limited access to the world and put into something already so small... it was no way to live. idyll was content being outside and, despite the lack of luxury they were used to growing up, it did not kill them to give any of it up.

now they lived on a jungle island with mysteries galore. an entire pirate crew around them and a captain at the head of the sails. the water was... truly terrifying to them, but staying far away from the shore made living easier. under the canopy of tree's in their little decorated hut every night was a gift. idyll would never give it up for the luxury of easy living as animals in captivity had it. well, most of them at least. there are dastardly humans out there...

idyll quietly came next to star, looking at bentley with a warm greeting. "hello, sir. as mister star had said, this land is claimed by the typhoon. as well as your name, what is your business here today?"
