now seemed like the time more than ever to formally introduce himself. august was not a stranger to these parts, but he had mainly kept to himself after having too many incidents concerning his insubordination. unfortunate he couldn't simply outshine his peers and move up by now. it was only with hopeful thinking that he ever break the cycle from his family line and try to be anything but what they brought him into.

the terrier had been in his quarters that morning, reading a novel he had slipped by when no one paid attention. during one of those special meetings jervis held from time to time. it was called the wonderful wizard of oz and he absolutely was enthralled by it. so much so he almost hadn't heard the approaching pawsteps of his superiors. his heart when cold and he quickly shoved the book underneath the tattered sheets he slept on, body straitening up stiff when they peered in.

"why are you still in here? there's work to be done, dammit."

he dodged a clawed swipe at his cheek and quickly ducked away, trotting out of his quarters. "ah, yes ma'am! i mean, sir. yes yes! august let out a deep sigh of relief as she seemed no longer interested in his room. his book was still safe for now.

he blinked slowly at the piercing sunlight, slowly adjusting to it as he wandered his way into the marketplace. the bustle of shopkeepers was enough to keep him hidden from that pittian for now thankfully. he saw an old coyote, her appearance similar to his, loading a wheelbarrow of her masters produce and he jumped in to help her. he grabbed a tomato between his jaws, proudly looking to the shopkeeper before being tumbled with multiple fruits and vegetables from the top of the pile.

the terrier groaned as he rose from them, shaking off the smeared produce from his fur.

"oh, jeez." he muttered under his breath. this would get him in trouble for sure.
