every time I'm thinking that I'm over it - Idyll - Warringkingdoms - 08-03-2019

[font=trebuchet ms]Once again, Rin was wrapped in bandages and medicinal herbs, smelling more like a cleric than she had in almost a year.

Her head hurt less than it had before, helped by the time she'd spent lying down in one of the tree houses. She had never resided in an area quite like this; the unfamiliarity was a blessing, as it didn't bring back any memories. Once upon a time, she had sought out memories, but in turn they had done nothing but hurt her.

The dwelling was small and damp, but Rin couldn't find it in herself to care. At least there was a roof, shielding her from the worst of the rain- bandages tended to work best when they were dry. The roof did have a leak, however, leaving a small puddle of rainwater on the wooden floor. Maybe it was drinkable, maybe not, but Rin wasn't thirsty.

She did, however, find herself crawling over to the puddle and staring at her reflection. Her face was longer, narrower, flatter than in her base form, though her whiskers were much more prominent. Her eye color was still the same emerald green, signaling that it was indeed her, not just some stranger who happened to find her scarf and pendant. Shapeshifting couldn't get rid of that much.

The wounds she'd suffered began to ache again, dull at first, then sharper. Rin clenched her teeth, hoping the pain would pass, but it only grew worse. She watched silently as her face flattened out, the fur distributing more evenly, the bandages shifting on her form- until eventually, she was looking back at her normal feline self. Crimson stains were spreading on the bandages, where some of the gashes in her skin had reopened, she assumed.

With a sigh, Rin lay down on the floor and stared out of the doorway. The bleeding would slow to a stop eventually, and the bandages would have needed to be replaced soon enough anyway. At least now, she was back in her usual form. Trying to replicate the results and transform on command would be difficult, but she could figure that out later. She didn't want to sleep, though. She wasn't sure what her mind would show her in her dreams.

Instead, Rin settled for lifting a small twig into the air with her telekinesis and twirling it around, trying to get it to spin at a constant rate.

  /this is... eh

idyll had been rummaging through the stocks they had left after rin's injuries. goldenluxury's training was phenomenal, and they were glad to have the chance to now show what they were capable of with their injured guest. it was nearing that time to change out the old bandages with the new, though they were hesitant with all the rain going on. there was a small break in the sky, while short, idyll took it.

they hurried up to where rin was staying, carrying the satchel around their neck and what couldn't fit in their jaws. they climbed quickly through the wooden bridges connecting each treehouse to the next. they followed the scent of rin until coming to their treehouse, empty until now. with their back leg they knocked three times before coming in, dropping the gauze in their mouth by the door.

"hello, dear! here to change those bandages. i have some poppyseeds of the pain is still too much for you as well. oh, and i have someone scheduled to send you your meals and water so you can rest properly so don't worry a bit about your next meal." they rolled out the gauze toward her and opened up the satchel. their ears pinned down as a drop of water plopped on their forehead. "oh dear.. have you been alright here? i'll have that patched up by the morning."

[font=trebuchet ms]As if on cue, someone came knocking at her door. She lifted her head as they entered, but didn't say anything, opting to listen as they spoke. Finally setting the twig down on the floor, she nodded. They had bandages and painkillers, and were also planning to send food and water. That was a lot of hospitality to show to someone who was no more than a temporary ally, even setting aside the fact that she wasn't an actual member of Elysium, just a straggler.

They also added that they were going to fix the roof, at which Rin furrowed her brows. This really was a lot, too much if you asked her. In the pit of her stomach, she could feel dread creeping up on her; what would happen if she accepted this generosity? Would the Typhoon ultimately be destroyed for daring to help her? Everything could spiral down into hell in the span of a day, if the Pitt decided to strike, or the volcano erupted, or someone turned traitor, or the gods flipped their collective lid.

Finally, she shut her eyes and took a deep breath. It wasn't like the Typhoon showing favor to her personally. Until the Pitt was dealt with, they technically were on the same side, and that was the only reason. They wouldn't get too close to each other; everything would be fine. "Thank you," she said lowly, with a nod of acknowledgement. "I don't think I'll need any more poppy seeds."

Looking down at herself, she started cautiously removing the used bandages. If a trained medic- at least, she assumed they were trained- was here to treat her, she wouldn't need to give any orders for once. That would be nice. Elysium probably needed a practicing healer among their ranks for when she finally went on her way; maybe she would talk to Playerone about it when she returned. "I can find some more supplies to replace the ones you used, before I go," Rin added, setting aside the bloodied bandages.

idyll felt truly happy here being a helpful hand to everyone. they had never though to be able to take up the place of a healer for an entire clan of animals, but here they were. goldie had seen something in them, obviously. they were still unsure as to what it was, but they were confident that soon enough their skills would soar. so far they were capable of treating many ailments without needing reassurance and no one had yet passed on them. so far everything was looking up.

with rin here, injured, idyll would have taken up to healing her whether she was an ally or stranger. the only kind they truly turned away were those slavers over in the pitt. they deserved what was coming to them... rin had just caught an unlucky stroke was all.

they nodded slowly, brushing the poppy seeds back and began to slather a remedy of herbs against her injuries. "no need. it's dangerous to go out into the jungle alone and not knowing how to navigate the paths. I can easily find whatever has been used, i promise you." they reassured, stepping back to roll the bandages around her limb.

"when you go, you won't need to stress about any repayments or debts. my goal is to have you returned safely when you're back on your feet." idyll promised with a small smile. "how did this happen, anyhow? i was not given much information about how you had gotten here."
