He nods once more. "Yep." Aurum was winning this by a LONG shot. His tail twitches once more, just from the fear, the anger, his swimming mind. He keeps that smug smile on, though. Just get through the round of battleship. And then go home, figure out what to do.

The most important thing is to keep a poker face, he reminds himself, forcing himself to stop twitching, to smile, to act like it was all well. That he was his happy, confident and flamboyant self. Ready to do a magic trick, throw the game his own way.

Kaito watches the older man. How he frowned, eyebrows furrowed, and he flicked his ear, seeming worried. That tone reminded him of... Oyaji. He clenches his teeth, grinding them against each other and unlocking his jaw with a pop. Then he looks up, nodding. So he wasn't joking. This was bad news. "Of course I am!" He purrs, yet his tone is almost defensive.

Then, he gets up, leaving the game. Slight pain jumps, rushing through the electrical signals shot off by his nerves, telling him not to move. He walks forward, and stops near the door.  "Sorry, Aurum-san. But I remembered that I have to do something. It was nice playing with you. Have a good night. Ja ne!" He needed to leave, to be by himself to understand what the hell was going on.

Everything stays, right where you left it.
But it still changes, ever so slightly, daily and nightly.

Although the balance of the game had begun to tip firmly in his favor, the happiness and calmness of the simple game of battleship had fallen to the wayside quite quickly as soon as he saw Kaito's reaction. He saw another flash of something unpleasant in the younger male's eyes, and although the other flashed a smile at him, Aurum could see how hard it was being forced, Kaito's voice strained and defensive. It really was beginning to remind the lion more and more of one of Roy's breakdowns, and he found himself extending a paw, intending to help in some way. However, Kaito was already disengaging, yanking himself away from the situation as he lost control of it. Aurum's frown grew as Kaito moved over to the door, and part of him wanted to demand – or really more like gently urge – that Kaito stay. That didn't seem like it would result in much, however. Probably just more panic on Kaito's part, and new, higher walls being brought up. Sighing heavily, the angel shifted before speaking, "Oh, I... I suppose that's alright, Kaito. It was a pleasure to play a game with you as well. If... if you ever need anything, you can come and talk to me, alright?" It was a soft sort of plea, and a sign to let Kaito know that if he needed the support he was rushing away from, he was always welcomed back, even if Aurum wasn't forcing him to stop, tooth and nail.
