Upon seeing lightning, he would taste a grim reminder of the all too recent past. Visions of the monster that had taken his former life distracted his focus for a moment, causing him to clumsily dodge the pillars a bit too late, some of the debris knocking into him. Well, this certainly lead to a strange discovery. A blinding outline grew from slices in his skin, a void-like black in the center of them, however there was no apparent blood flowing from any of them. This body was something to research - he'd no idea of its needs or capabilities. He simply continued figuring it out on the fly. Nonetheless, this realization was not something he handled so gracefully, looking to it for a few moments before realizing he was experiencing pain as well, everything coming at once. He is not his old hero-like self at this moment in time. How embarrassing.

Though, he would remain disoriented for another few moments, the light and dark now surrounding his body - perhaps out of confusion or maybe in a defensive manner. By the time he collects himself, the fight is nearly finished, and he feels exhausted after doing nearly nothing. Shit. He bites back frustration, shame, and guilt, instead observing the pair. He scowls towards the dragon, watching as it ceases its fight. He bares his teeth, stepping closer now with the shadows and lights sparking around his paws.
