Re: hear the patriots shout / ascendants visit + sephiroth needed - Jiyu Simul Stamus - 01-03-2019 Luckily she was a cold statue, otherwise she may have given away how troublesome the pharaoh arriving was. Just like normal? The lion displayed less tact that even herself which was fairly difficult since she didn't actually understand the emotions or motives of others, just guessed based off what she had been taught by her friends, siblings and other family in the past. If tact was bad enough to cause her to take notice of it, Jiyu couldn't imagine how bad it looked to others. Clearly the Ascendants had an issue with sacrifice and he just stated things so bluntly offering nothing that could affect how the other group viewed their particular actions. Thankfully Sepiroth trusted and respected her so hopefully he would not take offense to her speaking in an attempt to fix some of the damage from the bomb he'd just blown up on their allies. "Though there is a little more to it than just surviving hardships." she started speaking in her monotone voice, not emotion just words she hoped would do something no matter how small it may be. "You see one of The Aspects, Ingnis, has domain over fire, he has several times in the past set things on fire in our territory for his own amusement." More than once, she had been around when some members had to occasionally stop those random fires he set. "Considering he's an actual deity we can't just kill him. However, if he receives an offering of violently spilled blood every so often he leaves us alone." they had to share their territory with the aspects, but they had to share the world with the other groups there had to be some sort of balance achieved somewhere, she was not about to see the Rosebloods ganged up on because someone decided to over dress their practices. "So when we haven't had a blood spilling fight on our territory for a while, we occasionally have to resort to sacrifices every so often to protect ourselves." Especially because of Sep she couldn't claim they didn't, but she could adjust how it was viewed perhaps. "However, it's not nearly as ritualistic or harsh as you may think, we don't do anything like target children, bind the animal, or do something like sic a tiger on a blue bird, they have every chance to defend themselves and attempt escape, we don't even gang up on them, its one on one, an actual fight. It's not like its something the group in itself enjoys, in fact I know several members are far from fond of it, simply put it's necessity otherwise this whole place would be on fire." which was the last thing they needed. Hopefully one day through research she could find some other way to sate Ingnis, but for now this was how they had to do it. "We've never tried to hide it but we also saw no reason to shove the necessity of how we occasionally have to keep ourselves safe in the face of our allies." they were being completely honest with them now, and so was she as she had never been aware of any attempts to hide the activity. It was just they didn't talk about it because they were not some nutcase fanatics simply a group trying to survive sharing their territory with an incredibly violent and volatile god. Jiyu just wished she could remember when the next festival was, perhaps if they could invite their ally and show them Ignis, if he showed himself, it would also help. The jaguar watched, holding her tongue, as the conversation went on and on in wild directions. The leader spoke of their religion in a much stronger way than the feline and the giant serpent. Besides, the odd invitation to go into one of their dens – further into their damn territory! – while practically being lied to… well, that sit poorly with her stomach. Looking pointedly up at the golden reptile, she calmly asked, “Why is Jiyu here the best for religious matters?” She threw his exact words back at his face, flicking her tail as she shot a glance at the silver-haired lion, “When your leader is quite informed on the practices and, as your leader, is ultimately responsible for their implementation?” Vale hated two-faced religious bastards, especially when it came to persecuting people for the fuck of it. The church treated witches like her terribly, in her human life, and the church didn’t even perform sacrifices with live animals. The woman’s hazel eyes shot to the calico next, tail lashing. “All I’m hearing from you are excuses on why your practices are morally correct. You claim it’s necessary, but I do not see proof it is necessary,” she said, growing a bit heated. The witch never managed to subdue her emotions for long. “Even if it were necessary, your explanations at a ‘humane’ sacrifice doesn’t make sense. Every opportunity to escape? One on one fight? Attempt an escape? It sounds more like a cop out – oh they were strong enough to get out, how wonderful! Cut the bullshit, if you really need sacrifices that bad, you can’t afford to be choosy beggars and play with your food. Pick one or the other – are you doing this because you need to or because it’s sport? And give me a fucking straight answer this time, little Miss Better at Religious Practices than Leader Man.” As Vale’s temper ran hotter, her diplomacy started falling away by the sentence. "I take care of our practices of war, miss. my own religious background is different from some of the rosebloods." they informed the smaller jaguar patiently. they let the comments roll over them, "you want proof? take for example, our old territory. do you know why we moved territories, miss?" they asked her, blue eyes holding the whole group, indicating that everyone should take a second to reflect. "we have young and mothers among us. would you want your own members to live in a territory where a deity has lain ruin to everything?" they spoke once more of the entire group. "I for one, would not want my own children to starve. the land had nothing for us, not after the fire." they spoke calmly, letting some of the locked away emotions come to surface. "ignis is a cruel bastard. but he requires a sacrifice. those we sacrifice are criminals. yes, they are sentient, but we only take the criminals. those who have murdered the innocent, the helpless and have done irreparable damage to others. miscreants. what would you have us do differently?" they spoke softly, blue eyes holding the group in a strong light. "we are a peaceable group. we do not seek warfare. other groups have their practices. those who do actively seek warfare, are causes of concern. i would assume that a member of the pitt has visited your territory to spread panic. i have recently returned from their lands after a capture. they would take any means to return a strike upon us by poisoning the minds of others against us. they murmured, shifting positions to remain comfortably in their protective place. they were once a guard to sephiroth, and the habit died hard, even if they may have pissed him off. "occasionally, less gorey sacrifices may take place. ignis is a demanding fool, and we do our best to appease him. we take shortcuts where we can, believe me. and no, nobody among us likes to have these sacrifices. and before you ask, he is a leviathan. therefore, no amount of physical force could take him out. he is larger than even i, and thrice as dangerous. the bloodshed that we must create, is not a cause of joy. it is a cause of survival. we would leave the territory if we could, but the aspects follow us regardless." they spoke, hatred for the practice coloring their voice. |
