Everything was quiet except the talking of the Ascendants amongst themselves, and Owen let himself relax slightly into the hold of peace for a quick moment. But, as all things do, this peace didn't last long. He heard the loud stomp of Delta's feet, the clicks, the hisses. His ears pricked up, and the raptor dad shot up, his tone harsh and controlled. "Hey! Watch your attitude, Delta!" Came the abrupt command from the Alpha, confusion spilling over. Threat? Who was a threat?

Then, it clicked. Owen glanced over the scars on his raptor child's neck, and then everything connected. He was the one who did this to her. It was him. Rage filled up inside of him, but he tried to keep it in check. "Why did you wound Delta like that?" Came the sharp, bitter demand of a question to Washington as he kept his gaze on Delta, staying in between the two so the utahraptor didn't lunge. His body remained strong, still, as he never dropped his authority.

Owen would release the raptor on the other male if needed, but for now, he needed her to stop moving. To calm down."Delta. Eyes on me." He ordered, the chirp of a command smooth and unwavering. If she listened, he would begin to move away from Washington, with Delta's gaze following him. He would wait for her to be distracted, and slowly, from the pouch on his side, he pulled out a rabbit for her to eat as a reward if she listened.

Now, for Washington's response.

Agent Washington
former human - freelancer - sassy
Being a soldier meant that he was going to have to be good at something when it came to the battlefield. There were those that were good with machines and vehicles during their time there and that got a different program than he did. It was usually obvious for others to tell what they would end up doing good at because of the simple talent that they had expressed during their basic training. There were others that were great pilots and then would go into that section of the battlefield. One needed to go through extensive training to be able to fly the spaceships or even the pelicans that they would go into battle with. Being a pilot didn't mean that they were able to get out of the battle though, as it just meant the anti-air turrets that the aliens had their disposal could shoot down said pelicans and they would crash. When a pelicans crash, it just means that there are few survivors. At least they were given the survival rate of what happened when that happened, and it wasn't exactly a good one either. There were explosive specialists that dealt with different grenades and nukes that could be used in space to destroy larger ships and get rid of massive potential threats. Those were the important guys as they could come in handy at the last minute to get them out of a bad situation.

Washington, on the other hand, was neither of these. He wasn't great when it came to driving vehicles, he was average, he could pilot a plane but not very well, and he didn't know all that much about dealing with explosives except that they were lethal. Instead, he was a great shot. No, he wasn't at the level of a perfect sniper as that wasn't the way he usually fought. His specialty was that of a mid to long range weapon that had a three round burst and a scope. He was an amazing shot and rarely ever missed and had the reaction time to make correct shots when shooting at an enemy. It took a little bit of practice and he wasn't that great from the start, no one was, and it took him a while till he found his favorite weapon. He also was pretty great when it came to throwing knives when on the battlefield of a war that would determine whether if they continued to exist or went extinct. There were a lot of stressful moments, and he was fairly certain the reason he had been accepted into the Freelancer program was that of how good of a shot he was and how he was decent at everything else. A jack of all trades. At least with most things. He wasn't the best of the best of the Freelancers at that time, instead, he was the best of the worst that was available.

Washington didn't really care where he had ended up ranking as he was just there to help the human race and that was it. If there was anyone that was a better shot than him it would most certainly be North and Wyoming. Both of them sporting sniper rifles, North even be able to use the weapon in short range sometimes. How the other managed he wasn't exactly sure. Washington didn't get to see Wyoming on missions all that much since the other was higher on the ranking list than he was. They liked to keep them separated, or at least try to. Most of the time all of them went on a mission together and had to figure out how to work with one another. Either way, he preferred to fight with guns rather than his fists. He was more than capable of dealing with hand to hand combat, but it wasn't his specialty. That was more Carolina's field, as she had been the best of the best until Texas came along to throw everything out of control. There was another animal that approached him and it was again someone that he hadn't seen before. The german shepherd, an actual breed that he knew because they were still kind of a common breed back in the world he was from. As they had been genetically modified so that they weren't killed by their own lack of genetic variation in the past. The other didn't introduce himself, and Washington was fine with that, he didn't really care all that much either.

The former human listened to the way the other talked, and he immediately knew the answer to his question.[b] "Battle rifle is my preferred weapon, a mid to long range gun with a three round burst. Standard UNSC weapon created next to the Assault rifle." Washington stated like the soldier that he was before seeming to stop for a second. Wait. Was the other referring to his type of fighting in this world or where he was from? Well damn. "But I guess uhh I can't use a gun here, so I currently don't know my style of fighting in this body." That didn't mean he was weak though. The almost 1000lb animal was capable of holding his own easily if he got hold of someone, he just didn't have a specific style as he hadn't really tried fighting all that much. The most recent fight he had been in breaking his arm when he was going up against the Meta. Washington's arm broke because of his own mistake of not reacting quickly enough when the Meta had broken his arm and nearly snapped his neck. then came an animal that just wanted to ruin his mood. He had only met the creature a couple of times, or at least what he was thought of them. The helmet covered animal didn't seem to react at all to the animal when she made her appearance, ignoring her and only looking at Owen instead.

The Freelancer could care less for the likes of a dinosaur, besides it was outnumbered if it decided to attack him. And he was fairly certain that Carolina would kill the dinosaur if it tried anything even in her smaller body. He was tired and wasn't in the mood to deal with anything, and as the german shepherd questioned him, the former human didn't even bother to shrug his shoulders. "This animal... if you would call it that has threatened to basically eat anyone here that moves, the same with the rest of them. So, you can't blame anyone for self defense in order to protect their lives now would you?" Washington's voice was stern, but it was also tired and slightly annoyed. He already had a headache, and he didn't realize that having others surround him so much was going to make it even worse than it already was. Great. His head didn't move as he looked at Carolina at the corner of his eye, making sure the other wasn't going to immediately kill said dinosaur. The former human would then begin to look nonchalantly at those that were starting to gather, wondering if they would have anymore interesting questions.

Huh. Folks were following along with my question and answers thing? That was pretty cool, and I wanted to host another to be honest. They were a lot of fun, but this seemed to be business based. I walked forward upon hearing Washington's call, and listened in closely. It didn't seem like anyone really knew the right questions to ask. Except Pimostra, it seemed. Her question was interesting, and so was Wash's answer.

I only ask one on one because it was a bit easier to get information out of someone that way. Get them feeling more secure and open. I tended to have a way with both words and being an approachable figure. I mean, I am friendly, but rarely did I ever consider anyone a true friend unless they showed me they were worth it.

I gave everyone I knew a quick, brief nod before taking my seat. I noted the tense atmosphere between the... stranger, the raptor, and Washington. What the hell had happened between them? An attack? Wash didn't seem like the type to instigate a fight unless it was necessary for safety, but I could be wrong. There was always that chance.

"Anyway," I would have added a cough to lighten the mood, but I was slightly annoyed by the hostility. Time to get this shit on a roll. "Hey Wash. Have you all been in the military your entire lives? Seems like you were raised in it, at least."
