It's a good idea to leave your troubles— Immediately, pain and regret replaced Dale's excitement. His head drooped and tail tucked between his legs. Cooper felt his throat feel as if it was closing as apologies tumbled from his muzzle. "I do sincerely apologize, I was unaware of your recent loss," he spoke, unwilling to lookup and meet the eyes of those around him. A foolish slip of words and he felt like he had jeopardized his chance of joining the group.

Though, surely they wouldn't prevent him from joining just because he mentioned what was surely a sore spot. No, that was a foolish notion that he must quickly banish from his mind. That didn't mean he didn't feel bad though. Perhaps he would make it up to them somehow. —at home when operating a vehicle.

At the question about Starry, Luna would scoot a little closer to Bastille, attempting to comfort him and her ears would flatten as Bast spoke. She would also drop her gaze to her paws before Dale spoke once more.

"This is our new Seraph." Luna told the canine, indicating towards the male next to her.

★  WHEN MY HEART IS MADE FROM GOLD AND FORGIVENESS SEEMS TOO BOLD
Hazel beamed at him as he repeated his name for her. "And it's a pleasure to meet you, Dale Cooper." She purred, tail lifting. She liked him! He had nice manners and seemed sweet and happy. Hazel would always enjoy being around those kinds of souls: people that made it feel like early summer, golden hour, and the peak of dawn all in one. They were refreshing to be around. Hazel had been told she was one of those people once or twice, but with how much information she kept away from others, she doubted it.

Dale's mention of Starry snapped her out of whatever haze she had been drifting toward like a splash of cold water. It was so...startling to hear his name in the present tense, like he was still alive. She wondered how this stranger knew about Starry, and more importantly, why. Her gaze immediately - involuntarily - switched to Bastille, watching him. There was an old tug of worry, concern, and the odd notion to divert the subject and spare him the awkwardness, but it was too late. Truthfully, Hazel winced as Bastille's voice slid over the former Seraph's name. It didn't take much to notice that just the name was enough to pull something out of Bast: the sudden breeze and lowered register of his voice acting as indicators. She watched as Luna introduced Bast as the new Seraph, and felt her spine tense. Bastille never gave newcomers his title - and it was a little more than obvious that there were reasons behind it. Something about Luna putting his position out there felt off, wrong. Hazel wouldn't fault Luna for it, though. Bastille was their new Seraph, and Dale did have a right to know.

Hazel forced her attention back to Dale, giving him a small smile and a shake of her head. The poor guy looked as if he had committed a crime. "It's not your fault - you didn't know." She assured him, voice quieter than before. She desperately wanted to know what Dale wanted with Starry, but...wrong place, wrong time. "You're welcome to stay with us, if you'd still like. The observatory is this way." Hazel turned and began the trek back to the building, gesturing for Dale to follow with a wave of her tail. She wanted to get him out of there before Bast did or caused something unexpected. From what she had seen, he looked exhausted, but...he'd become unpredictable as of late, and she still wasn't pleased with him. Better safe than sorry.

It's a good idea to leave your troubles— As Luna spoke, Cooper slowly lifted his head and looked at her and then Bast. Seraph? That must be what they call their leader. Cooper made a mental note of that, he'd find out all their concepts and ranks later.

As Hazel began to speak again, Dale turned his head to look at her. when she gave him a smile, he felt the tension in his chest loosen a bit. So, despite his blunder, at least one of them wasn't upset with him. She reminded him of someone, though he couldn't quite place who. "I'd love to stay, if you'll have me." he says, trotting after her. He dipped his head to the others, curious if they'd follow. —at home when operating a vehicle.
