The other feline seemed to quite enjoy his response, soothing Blackjack's nerves on the potential outcomes of this interaction. It appeared to him that these Pittians were willing to accept his request for shelter among them, but he would have to wait still for their Ardent, Olalla. Ultimately it was not his impression on them that would decide his fate but rather his impression on this aforementioned leader that Bonnie had fetched. And now it was time for this judgment, for in the distance he saw the figure of the pale wolf reappear along with what also appeared to be a wolf-like canine.

The words of the alleged Skald echoed in his mind once more as Olalla approached them, Bonnie following alongside him. "Meeting the Ardent isn't such an honor." At this point, he wasn't quite sure what to make of him: a towering creature that yawned more than he breathed. "Melancholy is inevitable as a king is nothing without an army," the canine had remarked to him in response to his statement. The jaguar subtly pursed his lips at the other's words, concealing the soft chuckle that had been dangerously close to escaping from his maw at perhaps the worst time possible. You ARE nothing if you must rely on others, he thought with a twitch of his ear. Melancholy could not be derived from such a thing. Perhaps his disagreement stemmed from him being far from adjusted to the social pack mentality of not just the Pitt, but of any other group available for him to join. He was an independent creature above all, tending to primarily his own needs and providing for others last. He was at the top of his own pyramid, and everyone else was below it in varying degrees. Regardless, he made no attempt to argue with the Ardent, for he felt it would be a waste of one's breath to do so. Instead his face remained stoic, impassive yet focused. Listening, understanding.

Olalla's next words were just what he wanted to hear. "Fortunately, we are accepting new members, as Jormungand and Bonnie have explained at this point." Jormungand, the name of the icy-eyed jaguar who seemed almost enthusiastic about Blackjack's joining the Pitt. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Olalla, and join the Pitt's ranks," the horned jaguar said with a nod, dipping his head slightly as he spoke. Now he was familiar with three Pittians, and undoubtedly he would discover many more faces until...whenever he grew bored of this desert, really. Or maybe whenever he grew bored of them. The second he deduced that these desert dwellers and their sandy domain were no longer of any use for him, he would disappear, leaving not a single trace. His desires would always come first. It was how he survived thus far, after all.

Speaking of his desires, he could no longer make an attempt to avoid the throbbing pain tormenting his crimson-decorated paws. He would need to rest soon, and the quicker they could speed up this interaction, the better. "Is there a good place for me to stay?" he asked, pools of rich gold tinged with curiosity landing upon all three Pittians. Blackjack knew that sleeping among the dunes was far from favorable. They had to have real shelter somewhere — his client had said so, and it was the sole reason he had encroached upon their territory in the first place.

he was happy to hear that olalla had accepted blackjack, he wanted to see what the other could bring to the pitt. he stepped up and asked where he could sleep, and jor lifted a shoulder in a shrug. "usually here we build our own houses, but i'm sure there are some empty ones around that you could decorate and call your own."
