More small creatures. He’d seen smaller creatures before, hadn’t he? Usually that was food, but this one was talking and that usually meant that it wasn’t food. He wasn’t hungry anyways, and so he lazily turned his head over to eye the newest face and inquires made towards him. Was this a species, or just youths? Hard to tell, and that was some mental gymnastics above his level.

Stalling for time to think over a response to the question with a shuffle, a chuffed noise accompanying such. “Tastes good,” came the slow answer, a talon poking against the rotten morsel to be sure that it was what he was specifying as tasting good. Not dirt; he knew for a fact that dirt did not taste good. Leaves were good for hygiene, and made pretty nice tools to help deal with excessive slobber. “Angel good,” came the sluggish repetition of the word, tongue flickering after. Short enough for him to say, and fairly ease as well. Short alternatives were good; made it simpler for the lizard’s already simple mind to shuffle through.

Craning his head around to another new face, having to actually squirm a little to properly face her. Temporary living? Fixing up, which sounded like it was going to be something tiring. A grumble like hiss followed Anthemtalon’s rise back to his feet, tail swinging briefly to push against the ground so he didn’t wind up slipping and collapsing. “Sojourn,” Anthem echoed, internally trying to figure out what a few of those terms actually meant. His mind gave up after a couple spins in the mental wheel, and the lizard found it easier to garble out some noise that could vaguely sound like ‘sure thing, that sounds about right’. What sort of expectations were there? It was a complex word, and it too spun around in his head until he flicked his tongue out to dismiss it in order to avoid a headache.

The Komodo monitor lifted his head up to look at the most lizard looking person that had arrived to greet them. It felt familiar, which was nice; being a rare exception to solitary reptiles was quite a nice thing even if Anthemtalon’s group experience was fairly limited. Familiarity was pleasant even in the utmost basic of lizard brains, and a light and near giddy (higher pitched than his grunts and chuffs were which probably meant ‘pleasant’ in the comprehensible least extent) hiss would sound. “Devraj,” Anthem echoed after a moment of processing and turning over the pronunciation to ensure it being correct, picking up the carrion he’d been carrying so it wouldn’t be left behind when he followed after Sojourn.
