[font=trebuchet ms]Rin could sense a subtle irritation, one that she might have mistaken for her own were it not for its muffled, far-off nature. Before she could focus on it, however, it went away, replaced by the concern she held for Sterling's odd mental state. It was probably nothing, she decided, perhaps just the beginnings of an intrusive thought.

As he nodded and admitted the thought of losing his bucket was dreadful, Rin nodded back. Now they were getting somewhere. Listening as he described the "shiny on a string" he'd found, she furrowed her brows. She didn't actually doubt its existence, despite the lack of evidence- you could find a lot of strange things buried in the ground- but she really, really hoped it wasn't one of the Ascendants' pendants he'd found. Shaking her head, she dismissed the thought. He probably wouldn't have been near Starpool.

As he began arguing with himself, she twitched her ears. This was becoming worrying. Sure, perhaps his talking back and forth, emphatically holding up both ends of the conversation, was helpful to him- but he might well consider it an issue, and even if it wasn't, how had it started? She was no psychoanalyst, but this sort of behavior didn't pop up out of nowhere.

His confusion over the word "persona" lasted only a moment before he then got distracted by the topic of cages. He considered this a large cage... yeah, she probably ought to bring him to Idyllfields, or someone who could at least make sure his behaviors weren't maladaptive. With a shrug, she answered, "'Persona' and 'person' are two different things. Think 'personality' rather than 'human.' She basically spawned from my inner being, and protects me." At least, she hoped she had that right.

Twitching her ears, she asked, "Have you had anything to eat or drink in the past few days? And could you come back to the mountain camp with me so I can check you, just to make sure you're healthy? You can come back out here to treasure hunt afterwards."
