The boy needed to take a few deep breaths after his own monologue. That took forever to speak out. He breaths in calmly - in through the nose, out through the mouth - a paw placed against his chest. His ears flicker underneath his tophat and his head swiveled towards the lion, a soft smile appearing on his features. "Thanks for not being as mad," he muses. "If you were, I mighta had to phase through the wall again! Wouldn't want to end up like Oyaji." The boy jokes, pointing to the wall of his house in a dramatic fashion. Though, his own last part about his father caused him to cringe mentally.

Exhaled air condenses into water crystals before his red-blue eyes and he smiles. Why didn't he ask for a help? A sort of "huh" mixed with a "hmph" falls from his lips, and the black smoke's tail flickers. His smile turns into a smirk, that arrogant smirk he was so known for."It's not just Tanglew- woop!" he tries to be nonchalant, leaning back too far and falling down. With a grumble, he gets back up and restarts. "It's not just Tanglewood. I've gone to multiple countries searching for the damn thing. And it's not just Pandora. Remember: I said that my father was the original Kaitou Kid. Oyaji planned this out for me. He wanted me to be the Kaitou Kid after him. I wanna make him proud."

Aurum felt a faint feeling of satisfaction when Kaito seemed to struggle at first with his question, clearly having really never thought the option of asking for help over before. However, his satisfaction and delight at getting a real reaction out of Kairo for once were swiftly replaced before long, since the kid got that usual shit eating grin on his face that was a sign for the proxy to start sighing. However, this was somewhat reduced by the fact that Kaito reeled back too fast, promptly landing on his ass and grumbling. The lion had to physically cover his muzzle with a paw for a moment to stop himself from laughing. That wouldn't be very nice, especially when Kaito was gearing up to explain himself further. Aurum listened intently to what the other had to say, nodding his head a little bit to show his acknowledgement. A small part of him was slightly worried that Kaito was going to bolt the moment that he found out Pandora wasn't in Tanglewood, something that would've been majorly upsetting to the angel who had come to think of him like a son. However, he shoved this thought away, figuring he wouldn't focus on his own selfish emotions right now, "You want to make him proud...? So you're going to... what, exactly? Spend the rest of your life playing thief, even after you find this Pandora thing? You admitted yourself that you hate living like this, constantly on edge and constantly running... that's only going to keep going if you keep doing what you are now. It seems to me that your father wouldn't want you to be miserable in your life, at least not if he was a decent one."

Kaito does his best to hide his annoyance at such a thing, though his tail lashed and a hissed escaped through his gritted teeth. His blue eyes did not have fire, nor were they frozen over in cold anger. No, it w as a tidal wave, trying to figure out what happens next, does he go with the flow of life? Is carrying on his father's work simply what he was best at, and all he'd ever be? His tail lowers and he looks. "First off, get any preconceived notions about Oyaji out of your head." His voice is calm and stoic, yet it should have been obvious he was angry. "I'll be Kaitou Kid as long as I need to be, because Oyaji was a kind man, he helped me, he had great morals - he wanted me safe. The most I can do is not only play thief, but be a good one, until his spirit can rest." He lowers his head, glaring at the lion. "It doesn't matter if I hate it. It's for him. He deserves this, at least! He deserves a son who listens to him and wants to help him."

Kaito's anger... Aurum couldn't say it impacted him, at least not really much. It was nice, to see the kid actually emoting instead of just putting on some sort of sly grin he thought would look cool to everyone else. The proxy was sure that the hissing and the angered tone in Kaito's voice was meant to drive him away from what he was speaking about, but for the most part the male was unaffected. It was debatable whether or not this was just because he didn't have it in him to be scared of a creature less than a quarter of his size, or because he just didn't really think Kaito was angry at him. The third was acting all pissed, like he was right on the edge of doing something rash, but Aurum just blinked calmly as he listened, doubting Kaito would do anything beyond glare at him. He hadn't inflicted any injuries yet, after all. Instead, the angel just sighed, saying softly as he shook his head from side to side, "Kaito...  I don't have any preconceived notions about your father in my head. I'm just wondering how long you're gonna spend your life like this. How long until this is enough for him to solve at rest? Your reasoning is flawed, and I'm pretty sure you know it." He was trying not to be harsh, not wanting Kaito to lash out or run away from him like he had at their little battleship session.

A dull sigh escapes his mouth. What was most important to a magician? A poker face. Remembering the heart of a child came second. He was back to his old ways, his anger dissipating. His voice lowered, leaving no room for cracks and for errors. He remembers his morals, and his breathing is unlike Kaito's - for once. He couldn't have anyone else finding out. He fucked up, and he actually told someone. What was supposed to be his most well-kept secret was out there, and if anyone else was listening - Snake or his underlings, perhaps, he'd be in trouble. This fear causes him to turn on his heels, looking out into the marshy territory. "Of course I know that." His voice is laced with arrogance, pride. "At the same time, the heart cares not if reasoning is flawed. The heart wants what it feels - and feelings are flawed and irrational. I don't know how long I must keep it up. But, I'll do it forever if I have to. And, let me guess, that puts a damper on things for you, Kin-keibu."

Aurum could feel a sort of thick tension in the air as he listened to Kaito, his jaw tightening slightly at the other's words. He knew well what it could be like, doing something just because it was what your heart told you was right, but his heart was telling him quite firmly that this was not what Kaito should be doing. He wanted to be angry, or shout that right at Kaito right now, but he found that he really couldn't be anything more than vaguely annoyed at the false bravado that the thief was putting into his voice. A heavy sigh left the lion after a moment, and he said roughly as he shook his head, glancing towards his own home, "Of course it puts a damper on things for me, Kaito. But... it isn't as if I can do anything. I'm not going to turn you in, at least not as long as you're not violent... but you have to be more careful. You can't be caught by anyone else. If I could figure it out, then others can as well, and someone less like me will punish you. I know Leroy wouldn't do anything too cruel, but it still won't be good for you..." Ultimately, all the lion wanted to do was protect Kaito, but he didn't have it in him to say that out loud. At least not right now, when it could very well end in Kaito running away from him.
