Kaito looks shocked, a sort of fake look, with exaggerated features like an open mouth and wide eyes. Then, he laughs, putting a paw to his mouth. "No, sorry. C4?" The boy cracks his neck, turning it slightly before it's straight once more. His tail flicked behind him, and he looked as though he was concentrating - perhaps to make the other feel better, or to make himself feel better. His ears perked at Aurum's question and he nods. "Of course, it's good practice, after all." He replies, his voice smooth, yet childish and almost having some mischief. "For my magic tricks, that is. Because, a magician is there to deceive the audience, and has to know how the audience wants to be deceived, after all." The exaggerated expression upon Kaito's face was enough to draw a laugh from deep in Aurum's chest, the proxy shaking his head a bit as he chuckled. He would've been disappointed that he wasn't winning, but it wasn't as if the stakes were life and death, and it was proving to be a rather enjoyable game. Glancing over his board, the male let out a little exasperated chuff before nodding, "Ah... yes, that's a hit. I suppose that means you go again?" As his one blue eye moved up to observe Kaito, Aurum's head tilted to one side, seeming thoughtful before he continued speaking, "And I suppose games like these could be good for me as well... I may not be a magician of any kind, but one day I will be in charge of Tanglewood... and it's best to know how to keep things close to your chest when you could have enemies looking to hurt your group." Aurum very much hoped that by the time he was General, they wouldn't have enthusiastic enemies looking to beat down their doors, but it never hurt to be prepared. template by orion

Kaito nods, smiling somewhat at his laughter. Good, it felt good to make people laugh. Even though the lion was injured, he could have fun! "I suppose this is training and fun then, eh, sir?" His tail snakes behind him, as he smirks, all too familiar. Kaito didn't necessarily consider himself an enemy, given his strict no-harm policy, but Aurum likely did. "How about C3?" He asks, stretching a bit, offering another smirk. Re: golden sea // aurum - wormwood. - 01-15-2020 i was born, on the highway, in a train wreck

"You are right there. It's training and fun, all wrapped up into one... which is nice, considering I can't do any other training like this." He chuckled a little, gesturing towards his chest. Physical training was out of the question, at least until he healed more. A smile then came to the male's face as he heard Kaito's next guess, shaking his head, "Nope. How about A3 for you?" Truthfully, even if Aurum knew about Kaito's antics, he wouldn't have considered the other an enemy either. After all, Kaito was basically just a kid. Maybe just a bit of a misguided kid. template by orion

Moonlight flitters through a window. The night are was calm and breezes were gentle. He hums, waiting for an answer, and then begins singing to himself. It was rather quiet, lacking the childish and mischievous hints it had, rather being slow and more like a ballad. "Moshi mo kimi ni meguriaetara, nido to kimi no te o hanasanai." In all truth, the boy seems distracted, closing his eyes, as if to not look at the moon. It even takes him a moment to process his answer - seeing as to how he was singing and not focused. A3? Blue eyes with red that shone in the moonlight, like nothing was hiding it, stared down at the column Aurum asked for. "A3?" The boy repeats, looking up towards the lion before down. Another exaggerated gasp escapes the cat, and he even does a "ke ke ke" sort of awkward laughter, rubbing his paw behind his head. "Ah, jeez, you got me. That's a hit!" Aurum was no stranger to zoning out, particularly when he was thinking of the past, or something that meant a great deal to him. Still, it was... surprising, to see Kaito seem to drift off for a moment, soft words leaving his muzzle that Aurum had nearly no hope of understanding. It was completely unlike the childish and upbeat persona Aurum had grown used to from Kaito, and he was almost disappointed when the feline snapped out of it. Still, he felt a soft smile spread across his face when he found out he had hit, a soft and deep chuckle leaving him, in sharp contrast to the quick laughter leaving Kaito. He said with a pleased hum, his tail flicking back and forth, "A4, then?" It was in this moment, however, that he found himself looking at Kaito curiously. Leaning forward the faintest bit, he mumbled to the boy with the tilt of his head, "Hmm... you have fascinating eyes, Kaito. I never noticed." It could be said that Aurum had fascinating eyes as well, but that was mainly due to the lack of one of them, and not the presence of another color shining hidden within them. template by orion

Kaito's twitched in slight irritation. He was not used to actually be losing. His IQ tended to keep him from doing so - that, and his school was filled with sheeple, who clapped at his tricks. He wasn't exactly used to free thinking people. With a dejected sigh escapes his pursed lips, his slightly gritted ivory teeth. "Yessir." He lowered his head - his eyes returning to blue once out of the moonlight. His gaze snaps upward once more. His eyes? Fascinating? Another awkward laugh, closing his eyes, before they rest in the moonlight once more. Red and blue. "My eyes? Because I have two of them?" A small chuckle escapes the boy, light and fluffy at his own joke. "But seriously, what is so... fascinating about them?" Truly, it really could've been considered pure luck that Aurum was winning. For the most part, the lion had just been guessing randomly, waiting to see whether he had hit so that he could address the adjacent tiles. Still, despite it being mostly luck, the lion couldn't help the satisfied smile that came to his face as he continued, "A5 afterwards, then?" At the two eyes comment, the proxy found himself chuckling, shaking his head a little bit. Perhaps, when the wound was more fresh, he would've been offended by that comment. But now he just found it fairly amusing. He then said, tail flicking lazily, "I just meant that... in the moonlight like that, when it hits your eyes, it looks like they're blue and red. I'm sure that sounds crazy, but that's just what it seems like to me." He then shrugged a little bit, an awkward little smile on his face. template by orion Re: golden sea // aurum - charactercemetary. - 01-19-2020 [glow=#000,1,400]WE'VE BECOMES ECHOES BUT ECHOES, THEY FADE AWAY — 。+゚.[/glow]
Kaito rubs his paw against his head, sighing and nodding. "Yep. Aaaand, you just took out one of my cruisers. Keep goin'." He tells the lion, his tail twitching with irritation, though not at Aurum - just at losing the stupid game. However, he smiles at the fact he could lighten the mood, leaving the lion to chuckle. Unfortunately, that mood crashed at his other comment. Blue and red in the moonlight? No no. What a twisted joke, right? Something to get him off his game. He'd recalled that he'd seen a simulation, an idea, a drawing of Pandora showing it as a red gem inside a blue one - shown underneath rays of moonlight, but surely Aurum had no clue what that was... did he? Besides, he didn't know that Kaito was Kaitou KID, and by extension, the gem the thief was looking for. Based off of his shrug, his nonchalant movements, was this normal? He frowns, eyes widening in fear, perhaps disgust, before thinking: it was a joke. A joke. It had to be. He got his blue eyes from his father! The adolescent smiles again. Despite the static running up through his legs, his every fiber wanting to check if it was true. His chest feeling as though he was drowning once more, tightening with an iron fist, because if it was true, then- that fire was because of YOU - he looks normal on the outside. Smiling, happy, dramatic: Kaito. "Jeez, Aurum-san," he begins, mischief masking his utter terror, "I never thought you woulda been so cunning to try to get me to think about something else! Gotta hand it to you, that joke about my eyes is pretty good." They were blue, blue blue, and that's all. Re: golden sea // aurum - wormwood. - 01-19-2020 Everything stays, right where you left it.
But it still changes, ever so slightly, daily and nightly.
Aurum noticed the faint frustration that was beginning to get quite the grip on Kaito as he took out the younger male's cruiser. A faint, small part of him almost wanted to throw the game, hush so that he could get Kaito back to that smiling and confident earlier self. That was the part of the lion that was father to Roy, who always enjoyed making the boy smile and perhaps throwing one or two things just so that the tiger would feel happy. Still, it wasn't as if he could throw the game in his current position, so he just nodded before speaking, "Hmm... D1?" The lion was so focused on the game before him that he nearly didn't notice Kaito's odd reaction to his comment about eyes... nearly, anyways. However, the angel was observant, and he noticed the way that Kaito's eyes seemed to gain a faint, far off and panicked look to them. The proxy immediately frowned at this, growing worried he had said something wrong. He opened his muzzle, intent on somehow breaking the tension that had suddenly formed between the pair of them, but Kaito was already forcing on a smiling face, reminding Aurum uncomfortably of Feza when she was attempting to forcibly cover something up. Part of the lion wanted to drop the subject, just so that he wouldn't make Kaito anymore uncomfortable. But also... it seemed important that they addressed it, considering the way that the feline was fidgeting, stressed and confused by such an offhanded comment. Flicking an ear, Aurum mumbled as he shook his head, "I wasn't... I wasn't trying to throw you off your game with a joke, Kaito. I was just making an innocent comment... a serious one. Your eyes look blue and red. Are you... alright?" He was starting to put on his soft and concerned voice, the fatherly one that he often used when Roy had night terrors, or in situations like when Sam had returned home and had been panicking. template by orion |
