i was born, on the highway, in a train wreck
with a heart, that was beating, out of my chest
If Aurum had known what Abathur thought of him for difussing the situation, he probably would've been... well, shocked, as well as unbelievably flattered. For many, many, many months, ever since he had been just a young cub of his pride, Aurum had been shunned. Kept hidden away, abused, berated, and just generally considered to be a freak by everyone else who had inhabited his birthplace. Despite the fact that this had been mostly due to his parents, whose cruel ways had influenced everyone around them, Aurum had always thought it to be a result of his own behavior. He had always thought he was too mean, or too socially awkward, or just too awful for anyone to truly want to interact with, and he had internalized it so much that he had spent so much of his time trying to make it so that he could interact well with others. So that he could deal with conflict, and friendships, and family, and truly be able to be the social butterfly he had always wanted to be as a cub. Even now, having moved past most of the abuse of his youth, and truly realized that most of his issues as a cub had been directly caused by his parents, Aurum still sometimes felt like he wasn't good enough. Like he was too awkward, or wasn't fit for where he had gotten in his life now. Sometimes if he truly deserved the friends, the family, the rank, the everything that he had now, and if he had known what Abathur was thinking... well, he would've been overjoyed.

Still, even unaware of Abathur's shocked thoughts, Aurum felt himself smiling as he watched the large arachnid interact with everyone, glad to see that the other had become acclimated to the group so quickly. Sure, Abby definitely had some odd quirks to him, but it seemed as though he would make a great new addition, and the Captain couldn't help the warmth that spread in his chest because of it. When Roy tended to beside him, pressing further into his father's fur, Aurum felt a vague sense of confusion, before remembering what Roy had confided in him in the past. He couldn't imagine Roy would've liked being called subject, considering the boy's past with experiments and abuse and being forced to remember, remember, remember, or face the consequences. Thankfully, Abathur corrected himself quickly, and Aurum felt himself relax when Roy did, a wing lazily draped over the boy for comfort. He watched as the two of them interacted, finding a small smile curl on his muzzle as a result of hearing his son's childish curiosity, something he didn't often get to see.

Waiting until Roy was done with his own question, Aurum processed what he had been asked, his gaze flicking back to Abathur. Delilah. Right, Abathur had been asking about Delilah. Dipping his head a bit, Aurum rumbled softly, a faint smile on his face aslt the thought of his other medically inclined friend, "Ah, I forgot you haven't met Delilah yet... yeah, she has tons of medical knowledge and training. She even used to be a medic here, for a while. I'm pretty sure she'd might even like to be one again... so if you ever want to talk to somebody else who's interested in medicine but isn't a medic, just look for a pink dragon." It sounded pretty damn funny, telling Abathur to go and look for a pink dragon to find Delilah, but he was sure the other male had heard odder things before. Hell, Abby pretty much was an odder thing, considering Aurum had never exactly met a giant arachnid before him. Of course, he'd never say such a thing aloud, not wanting to be rude. Besides, despite the fact that he and most of the rest of Tanglewood was used to it, there were plenty of places and people that would be utterly baffled by the appearance of a one eyed, winged lion in front of them, so he didn't have much room to talk about oddness.
