This was quite the joining Izuku had stumbled into. The feline had long since given up on staying in camp, restless as ever -- you know, despite the fact he'd nearly bled out just a day or so ago. He still couldn't see, but injuries were fairly common for Izuku, even if they weren't usually on that level. Still, participating in a joining was a little unexpected, though now unwelcome. So, the green-furred feline clumsily makes his way to the source of the noises he hears, involving a stranger and Harrison. He stumbles a few times making his way over, and there's a moment he's concerned about tearing his stitches, but the little Maine Coon is just fine, clumsily plopping himself into a sitting position once he's close enough. The bird, um, Cry, is saying something about Harrison, and that's kind of ... Izuku didn't get why she hated Harrison so much. "Cry ..." Izuku says in what he supposes is supposed to be a mildy reproachful tone, but from what he understands about the bird, he's just. Going to make her hate him, especially with how weak Izuku is at the moment. That's unfortunate, but Izuku didn't expect a lot, anyways. Anyways -- Izuku is no good with properly chewing people out, so he, somewhat reluctantly, turns his attention to the joiner. The feline attempts to smile in the direction he hears the other's voice, but, being recently and temporarily blinded, he fails pretty miserably. The attempt is clear regardless, though. "Welcome, um -- Atbash!" Atbash -- that was an odd name. He wonders what she looks like? Oh well, he'll discover later, if she's still aroundby then. So, with a wagging tail, Izuku makes to introduce himself, just as he's kind of supposed to during joinings, you know. "I'm Izuku, nice to meet you!" He adds, tail still wagging. He always liked joiners -- they kept the place alive, even though a lot of them vanished in a short time. Kind of sad, but it was probably for the best. ☀☀☀ Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - cry - 05-05-2018
And there it - wait. Cry's mind cleared. She scrunched up. The raven sharply turned on izuku. Her wings sprung open as she loudly hissed at the cat. She glared at him, as if scanning for weak points. Man wow. She was pissed. Steam pored out of her ears as her talons dug into the ground. Who told you my name?! She screeched at the other, feathers flaring. Out of the entire two months here she barely uttered a peep. She made sure as hell that what she did speak made no concentration to her, her past, or anything about her; including her name. To hear a simple cat mutter her name in such as disgusting disapproving tone sent shivers down her spine. Did she slip? Did one of her family members show up and tell them???... No. They would have introduced her as Kailey, and she's dead. "SPEECH" Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - arcy - 05-05-2018 Izuku knows it's coming, but he still flinches as he hears the hiss. He hadn't intended to be confrontational, as Cry appeared to have taken it as. Other than this, Izuku can't exactly see the bird, so he has no idea how angry she actually was? Very, as far as he could tell, but it was still hard to get a handle on it. But -- oh, this was about her name. He ... wasn't supposed to know, then. That's unfortunate, and it's definitely too late to back out now. Izuku shuffles his paws somewhat shamefully. "I -- um," Wow, he sure didn't want to admit to his wrongs here, did he? Probably because more screaming would entail. He wraps his tail around his paws as a meager source of comfort before he continues. "Y-your signature -- in your journal. I wasn't sure who it belonged to then, sorry." Izuku wasn't generally a snooper, but he'd just wanted to know who's it was? But 'Cry' wasn't a name that belonged to anyone he knew, so if he'd had to read just a little bit to connect it to the raven before him, so be it. He didn't read more than a little though, he promises!! He knows nothing!! (in izuku's honest opinion, this was one of the more bizarre things to happen during another member's joining. And also one of the more terrifying. He barely even knows what's going on.) damn i never do like researching before i let izuku know All do i lmao ☀☀☀ Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - pallid-i - 05-05-2018 He looked over at Melantha with wide eyes and grinned big. "Wow! Thanks ma'am!" He purred his appreciation before turning back to Atbash and purring incredibly loud. What a kind lady! They would make good friends, wouldn't they? Harrison hoped so, because having more friends made him happier. "You're really pretty, ma'am! I wanna be pretty like you!" He squeaked as he looked at the spots in her fur.
His mood was quickly ruined when Cry came over, and he flattened his ears. He scooted closer to Atbash and frowned. "Leave me alone, you mean birdy..." The kit murmured, sadness in his eyes. ❄ i couldn't even keep you Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - ATBASH CIPHER. - 05-05-2018 Atbash’s attention was quickly snapped from Melantha to Cry whenever she heard the sound of wings flapping in the air. She didn’t seem quite at all surprised that the bird was talking (but she did seem a bit mesmerized). No, she believed most animals had the ability to speak, so long as they were intelligent enough. Besides, other-worldly creatures could take the form of whatever they wanted to be - not that Atbash had a feeling that Cry wasn’t from here, it was just fact that odd beings could be whatever they wanted to be. Although it was interesting to note that Cry spoke the same language she and the others did. Then again, if Cry was intelligent enough to speak, they were intelligent enough to learn how to speak to cats and other animals. Atbash frowned at Cry’s words, but she didn’t seem angry. Upset, but not angry. ”Even if that’s true, you should still encourage him.” She responded. ”How else would he learn?” She briefly turned her attention back to little Harrison when he scooted closer to her and gave him a smile. She tried to lean down and give his head a reassuring lick. ”It’s okay,” She cooed, her short tail flicking. She didn’t know how to be a mother at all, but she could at least try to remember what her own mother did whenever she tried to calm her down. Oh, and about Harrison’s comment about her being pretty? Atbash thought that was sweet of him to say that, but didn’t say something on the manner herself since that moment passed. Maybe she’ll say something to him some other day. Atbash barely had time to react to Izuku’s introduction before Cry hissed at him, causing Atbash to jump in surprise again. Once again she frowned at the bird, noting that Cry seemed to be a bit hostile towards their group mates. Surely she had a reason to be like that? After all, Caesar never really hated their system back in their Home Dimension until they were exiled. It would make sense for Cry to be so hateful, but what would Atbash know? She only thought this because of her experience from her brother. ”Easy now,” She spoke to Cry again. ”There’s no need to be so defensive. Maybe Izuku heard it from somewhere?” If not read it from a journal, like he mentioned. Speaking of Izuku, Atbash looked over at him now and chirped, ”It’s a pleasure to meet you, by the way.” //mobile Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - jacob w.c. - 05-05-2018
WHAT A PRIVILEGE IT IS TO LOVE — Jacob smiled as he listened to the woman's explanation but then let out a soft gasp as he saw his son dart forward and bat at her. Thankfully, the tension was quickly broken when it turned into laughter and Jacob allowed his smile to return as he replied, "Yeah, ya' did good, Harry. Ya' jus' gotta' make sure tha' when ya' attack someone, 's really 'cause ya' need ta' do it. Ya' gotta' make sure they ain't friendly first or else ya' might accidentally scare 'em away or hurt 'em," he explained. Soon, though, his attention was turned back to Atbash. Seeing as she reacted so calmly to his son's sudden attack, he supposed she'd be nice to have around. She seemed kind. "'S good ta' meet ya', Atbash. Would ya' like ta' be taken back ta' camp? 'S a whole lot warmer there, I promise. My name's Jacob, by the way," he greeted with a light chuckle before the smile fell from his lips when he heard Cry. "Cry-" He barely got the name out before she was snapping at Izuku as well and he felt his stomach turn. He had to say something. He hadn't said anything during the weekly tasks but he had to now. He couldn't let her bully anyone here, especially his son and his apprentice. "Tha's enough, Cry. 'E probably jus' heard it somewhere, like when Leigh mentioned it a couple ah' weeks ago. Snowbound's your home, ya' shouldn' be snappin' at everyone all the time, especially when you're a Lionheart. 'S okay if ya' get upset sometimes but ya' gotta' control it. Ya' can't jus' go off all the time. If ya' need ta' talk 'bout somethin', I- well, all ah' us really, are here for ya' but ya' can't jus' lash out when ya' don' feel good. It ain't healthy for you or anyone else," Jacob spoke, his tone more firm than it was preciously. Gosh, he hated this. The whole thing made him uncomfortable, especially because he knew the bird was also distressed. Her comment to Harrison had been unprovoked but she seemed genuinely upset with Izuku for whatever reason. Still, it didn't do anyone any good to go around yelling at each other. That didn't exactly solve any of their problems. He let out a soft huff before looking back to Atbash in a near apologetic fashion, "Anyway, as I was sayin', if ya' want I can show ya' back ta' our camp. It ain't much of a walk from 'ere." —A GREAT HONOR TO HOLD YOU UP "SPEECH" Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - PIERCE - 05-06-2018 [div style="margin-top: 30px; text-align: center; font-family: timesnewroman; font-size: 35px; color: white;"]pierce parker ☀ — and till the end you're my very best friend

Oh, Pierce was a little late to this, but he figured it was best to show up late than to not show up at all. Then he'd at least establish himself as a person in the clan before this girl really settled down, and he knew how lasting impressions of people you met when you joined were, which was part of the reason he always did his best to be as friendly and kind as possible, so as to make sure newcomers remembered him fondly. This girl seemed pretty nice, too, which made it even easier. "Oh, ah, hey there! I'm Pierce Parker - you-you just call me Pierce, though. Welcome- I, uh, might not be much help getting you settled in, compared to Jacob, but if you ever need anything, you can ask me anyway," he greeted as he approached, tail waving behind him. He always wanted to be of use, even if his use... was not as useful as some others in his clan, so he'd at least offer. "I don't think I caught your name, though?" the tom prompted, a small smile brightening up freckled features.

How DARE he claim this place to be her home? This place would never be her home. She belonged in Clifside with her family. Not this frozen tundra of a hellscape. The raven turned to the leader. Leader... He was a pitiful excuse of a leader. Jacob was not fit to lead. Even now he couldn't step his foot down. He was barely able to address her, to scared to speak up. She took a deep breath, glaring at the dog. She was eerily calm. She exhaled, taking a step towards him. This place... She continued to walk forward, staying calm. One breath for each step. She thought of her home. Step. She thought of her brother's soft melodies. Step. She thought of her mother's hyperactive but loving antics. Step. She thought of her father's cool but supportive presence. Step. She thought of Millie's worried demeanor. Step. She thought of Toby's sweet little soul. Step. She thought of Clair's competitive smile. Step. She thought of what makes home home. She was right up on Jacob's space now. She glared up at him, her face clean of any emotion or tell of what she was thinking. What made a home a home? Home was a place full of people that loved and cared about you. Home is where you can feel safe to speak your mind. Home is a place where you make mistakes and fix them together. Home is a place you belong. She did not belong here. No need to sugar coat it. Everyone here despised her becasue of her personality alone. Cry was a cold, bitter, hot-head. She did not blindly agree with those around her. She was different. And for that reason, she was cast out. She couldn't put in her opinion anymore without getting a snap to fix her attitude or a 'ohhh that's just cry~ she's mean to everyone ignore her'. She huffed, blinking owlishly at Jacob. ...will never be my home. This was not home. She didn't feel safe here. She wasn't surrounded by those she loved and cared about. She wasn't allowed to make mistakes and fix them with those that cared about her becasue no one cared about her in the first place. They'd probably prefer if she was dead. Well too bad for them. She was not dying until she found a way back home. Back to where she was safe. She would continue searching until the cattle come home or until she died. She ruffled her feathers, rolling her eyes. It was not like Jacob or any of these damn animals would understand anyways. Their lives were perfect little playgrounds. They were lemmings that followed their worthless leader off a bridge. She almost pitied them. ... almost. "SPEECH" Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - jacob w.c. - 05-06-2018
WHAT A PRIVILEGE IT IS TO LOVE — When Pierce arrived, Jacob thought the situation had passed but then Cry faced him and started talking again. His jaw locked as the tiny creature stalked towards him. Hearing her words, he was quiet for several moments before speaking gently, ”It don’ have ta’ be. But that ain’t gonna stop me from tellin’ ya’ that what you’re doin’ ain’t healthy for you or anyone else. I dunno’ what happened ta’ ya’ but or what you’ve lost but you ain’t the only one tha’s ever lost somethin’. Ya’ think I wear these bandages as-as a fashion statement? Ya’ think I came ta’ Snowbound ‘cause I woke up one day thinkin’ like it sounded like a good idea ta’ walk countless miles ta’ somewhere I didn’t know when my legs don’ work half the time?” While his words could have been accusatory, he kept his voice soft and gentle. He was frustrated but Jacob was used to peope like this. He couldn’t always help but after dealing with Jersey, his Pa, and his Babbo, he didn’t feel only frustration for the tiny bird. It was clear he was concerned for her safety and well-being. He wouldn’t have fixed her wing if he wasn’t. While he was frustrated she was choosing to lash out, he knew there had to be a deeper reason to her behavior. “Sometimes ya’ jus’ lose n’ there ain’t anythin’ ya’ can do about it. N’ it’s awful n’ terrible n’ ya’ don’ think it’s ever gonna get any better. Ya’ find ways ta’ cope, whether they’re healthy or not, n’ tha’s why ya’ lash out at people n’ tha’s why I don’ sleep n’ eat too much pasta. But ya’ gotta move on eventually. Sometimes ya’ just gotta’ admit that ya’ can’t fix things righ’ now but ya’ gotta’ help yourself. So when you’re done throwin’ your li’l pity party or whatever this is, lemme’ know n’ I’ll still be ‘ere ta’ help. I want ya’ ta’ get better. This place might not be home but tha’ don’ mean ya’ can’t get better ‘ere. Keepin’ all ah’ your hurt in n’ pushin’ everyone away isn’ doin’ anythin’ but hurtin’ ya’ but I can’t make ya’ realize that n’ I can’t make ya’ wanna’ do anythin’ about it. Your health is in your hands, er, talons,” he concluded. Jacob wanted her to feel better. He knew what it was like to be angry and bitter but it was never good to stay that way. Just like him, Cry would have to move on from whatever her loss or trauma was. No one could stand being alone forever. //mobile —A GREAT HONOR TO HOLD YOU UP "SPEECH" Re: I'M ONLY TRYING TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR US || open, joining - ATBASH CIPHER. - 05-06-2018 ATBASH CIPHER light the night up, you're my dark star
Now that Jacob mentioned it, it was starting to get a tad colder out here. Atbash dipped her head in thanks to the leader, and opened her mouth to speak. But just as she was about to, he went on to talk to Cry. Luckily, however, his attention was once again brought back to her. "I'd appreciate that a lot, thank you." She chirped. A new face approached the group, and Atbash quickly looked over at him. He introduced himself as Pierce Parker, and Atbash gave a smile at him. "Nice to meet you, Pierce! My name's Atbash Cipher, but you can just call me Atbash." She winked, mostly to joke around with him, with how he said to just call him 'Pierce'. He seemed friendly enough; a bit nervous-ish, but nice! Once again Cry got riled up, and Atbash's fur puffed up in defense. She tried to wrap herself closer to Harrison, and watched the raven carefully. Cry was obviously upset about something, but as for what? Atbash wasn't sure. Every time the raven stepped closer to Jacob, her gaze briefly flickered over to the leader, as if watching for his reaction. "This place... will never be my home." Atbash's heart skipped a beat upon hearing Cry finish her statement, suddenly feeling a connection with the poor bird. Just like Cry, Atbash wasn't surrounded by her siblings. Just like Cry, she was cast out of her home. Twice! They always say home was where the heart was, and her heart was with her two brothers, and yet they both refused to be together. Although Atbash couldn't blame Vigenere for not wanting to be around Caesar, she couldn't understand why Vigenere didn't want to be around her. Vigenere snapped at her whenever she tried to follow him, claiming he needed some space. That was the second time she had been cast away from her family. The first? When they got exiled, along with their parents. Being exiled was what started this whole shitshow, it started Caesar's feelings of resentment towards the King and his Court. Snowbound would never be home to her, either. Snowbound couldn't ever be like the cold reaches of the Universe - which was probably why she choose the cold climate in the first place: to remind her of home. But Snowbound wasn't home. It would never be Dimension FiveX. The Dimension was gone in the first place, never to be returned to. Caesar ruined that. Caesar ruined everything. And yet, despite that, Atbash couldn't find herself to completely hate her brother. He was an awful, disgusting person, yes. He wasn't 'misguided' or 'misjudged' or 'misunderstood', he was a terrible person in general. But he was her brother. Her littermate. And Atbash could never find herself truly hating Caesar. Even if he wouldn't admit it, Atbash knew Vigenere felt the same way. Jacob's words were a faint and distorted as Atbash thought about this, but she quickly brought herself back to reality. She shook her head, frowning at Cry. "Hey, Cry?" She called out, hoping that the raven wouldn't fly off. "Listen, I know we literally just met but, um... Do you think we could talk sometime?" She didn't want her story to get out in public. She didn't want to lure Caesar to her. She wanted to get away from the past as much as she could. And maybe, just maybe, telling it to somebody would help. And it seemed Cry was in the same boat as her. Or... at least similar to her own story. bio | female | member of group © madi
