vanilla twilight xx goldie - deimos - 07-10-2019
So the guys in the Tanglewood were far from perfect, sure, but they were also really, really bad people. Sam's heart ached, she had to say. Leroy helping Beck instead of her- which, sure, maybe she fucked up Beck's ribs really bad, but Beck made her lose her fucking brains because of it. Cigarettes were her vice no longer, it seemed, but instead her desperately needed relief. She sighed, rubbing her eyes. This wasn't long after stepping away from the Colosseum during the festival. Was she really out and about, trying to mingle and find a lover? After what Dean had left her for? Nothing better then dead. She chewed on her lip, sitting on the beach with flattened ears. Sam sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. She had it give it up to the guys at the Typhoon for being generally unattractive. That was hard to do for Sam, considering she chased a greaser with a crooked nose. Her eyes tilted to the waves, eyes softening gently. Riding on that bike, on the Cali sunset? That had been a time that she was able to lean into old Dean, even if he was total asshole and everything she hated. The moon cast off the calm waves and glimmered against her antlers. What a shitty night. Sam sighed, rubbing the back of her neck again and standing up, stretching out gently to start heading home. There wasn't much left for her here, was there then? [align=center]Finding love has never once been the female's priority, if it were to happen, then she would not complain, and if it didn't, she would still be fine. And, either way, those dead, unwanted children did not necessarily leave a very nice taste in her mouth. She's taken in children before, taken care of them, even let them refer to her as their mother if they wish, but that was much different. It was a courtesy thing - she's never had a mom, and she did not wish for any child to grow up without a single parent. Even she, as a small kitten, knew that she needed her papa - so she made her way into his life, until he finally accepted her. What was most important to her was to make her family happy, and now, to be the best captain possible. Both of these ideals often lead to the conclusion that she could not sleep - at least not often (she's tried, and failed, to go so many days without rest, and she's quite past that point of crashing and burning). While she had the same tolerance as both (what she assumes her mama had, anyway) her parents when it came to their alcohol, she was a rare sight in their tavern, and anyone who knew her would know why. The female had work to do. She always had work to do. And, to be honest, while she did try to make an effort - especially as a child - to get to know all of her crewmates, she has gone back into her introverted nature a bit further, and allowed herself to be more reserved when she can be. The captain just left the jungle, her harpy eagle holding a dead squirrel in his mouth. The otherworldly glow that emits from her heterochromatic eyes is much more obvious now it is night, the cold blue and green striking through the dark. Her gaze lands upon the female. She scents Tanglewood and tilts her head curiously, walking over to her. "You're here pretty late," she'd comment casually as she grew closer. The golden tiger's wings shift slightly, resting more comfortably on her back. She is not so bothered by Sam just waltzing about the island at night, though it is a little weird, she is more so curious about why she did. "The pirates showin' you a good time?" Re: vanilla twilight xx goldie - deimos - 07-11-2019
Family wasn't something Sam really had either. Her parents died when she was little, before the fall, making her and her brother orphans. Tyler wasn't.. really that much of a help- in her mind, at least. He did all the food finding and yknow, actually set up the trip to Georgia but, Sam really didn't like him all that much. She was stopped in her tracks when her lowered gaze struck golden paw, her own vivid greens looking up at her. This was the leader of the Typhoon- she knew that much. She had helped them with reviving and healing crow because, yeah, they really didn't have a healer. Sam stepped back, ears flattening again. Her paws shuffled gently, brushing at the sand. "Needed time t' think. Away from the rest of the Tanglers." She said, tail gently swaying behind her. Sam's fur was just about on end. Something about this encounter made her want to run, but she wasn't sure why. She sighed, finally dragging her eyes up to meet the heterochromatic pair that Goldie wore. She shrugged to her next question. When she had showed up, it was just Leroy, Goldie, and Sam- and hell, if Sam didn't feel out of place, then it wasn't a party, right? "It was a good party, yeah." Sam glanced back towards the waves again, biting her cheek. Really Sam, all you had to say was 'it was a good party'? She sighed to herself, gently berating her mind for not coming up with better conversation pieces before looking back towards Goldie. "Hopefully us Swampers were good company, at least." BEWARE, BEWARE OF ME.
[align=center]The tigress watches her responses quietly, nodding slowly to her first set of words. To be honest, near anytime she went away to think ended up resulting in some sort of disastrous thing happening to her. It was better to simply stay home, even if her shushed adventurous spirit always craved to see the world - her family is here, and she has so many responsibilities here now, there was simply no time. She'd accepted that a long time ago. "S'pose I get that, though don' do that so much these days I mus' admit." However, whether she was referring specifically to getting away from her crewmates or thinking in general, she did not bother to specify. Her words are quieter than her normal volume, seeing as this is just a private conversation at night. There is no need to send her voice slicing through the calm air for now. To the next replies she receives, she'd offer a small grin. "Of course, 'll always appreciate the company of folks I can trust." Her words are genuine and straight-forward. Leroy proved that to her - admitting that Stryker had crossed their territory days ago, despite any repercussions that may come of him stating it. Even if the words didn't come from their leader, which she would have preferred, she will not scold him over it. She was willing to give Crow benefit of the doubt, in case he thought it not so important - maybe he didn't know the extent of Stryker's crimes...and he's still recovering from that concussion, maybe that's clouding his judgement. Nonetheless, she would worry about it for another time. The tiger sighs silently, glancing out to the reflective waters surrounding them before turning back to Sam. "Well, if you're tryna' think by yourself, d' ya want me t' go? 'm not tryna' t' invade your privacy." That would simply be rude - to continue a conversation one did not want to have. She is not super concerned about an ally sitting on their island unguarded. Trust was earned, and Tanglewood as a whole earned hers a while ago, even if she did not necessarily know more than a few of them past a name and face. Hell, her papa had let Snowbound live with them a year ago - one little ally staying the night was not going to end the world. "An', if ya need somewhere t' rest for the night, the Tavern's always got open beds upstairs." Normally she offers her submarine to newer members, but she quite honestly did not want to risk the possibility of a stranger wandering about her home's rooms at the moment, no matter if she trusted them or not. Re: vanilla twilight xx goldie - deimos - 07-16-2019
Straying away to think was only something that Sam did in her pastimes. It was somewhere to breathe, and the feline didn't have a lot of dangerous things going on in the Tanglewood right now. Smoking used to keep her calm- now she couldn't even do that, it seemed. Her eyes dwindled on her shuffling paws again. What a nervous wreck you are, Sam. She almost winced as Goldie spoke, looking back towards her. She frowned gently, feeling for Goldie- almost. She couldn't quite sympathize was the part about not being able to get away, she supposed, but time always felt like it was slipping between Sam's paws yet passing so slowly. She nodded gently to her next response, sighing. Trust wasn't something she was given often, she supposed. Between Beck taking her smoking away from her, and Leroy making a show of his feelings surrounding Sam's current impulsiveness. "Trust is.. good. Wish I had more of it." She flattened her ears, glancing away towards the water again. Anger barely ghosted in her eyes, with a wrinkled nose, but she lost it to the hopelessness of not being able to choke up her lungs. Sam, however, seemed to be latching onto Goldie. It felt easy to talk to her, compared to the boys back home- and Arrow was always.. she didn't know, really. Really out there? Sam didn't feel easy talking to her about everything. Her paws shifted again. "N-no don't worry about it. I.. ah.. I prefer the company. It's just the guys back home I can't hold up to right now." Sam offered a ghost of a smile, as forced as it was. She turned her body towards the water, sitting down. She shook her head. ""Don't worry about tha'. I've got.. I'll be off your territory by tomorrow morning, I think." Sam honestly didn't know the way home by heart, but she wasn't that enthusiastic about going back right now. Beck was a certain sore spot, Miko hated her, Leroy probably hated her more. Sam's eyes closed, the green eyes resting behind dry eyelids. "I uh.. I apologize for takin' up your space. If y' think I'm intruding I'll go ahead and leave I suppose." Sam mumbled, looking to her paws again. [align=center]Goldie's response to Sam's came quite easily, having a very firm philosophy over those you keep close. She's been backstabbed before - quite literally, her former body's back destroyed - and she was more cautious about who she let in her circle nowadays. After all, she used to think Stryker was preaching some sort of truth. Childish ideals have been destroyed, and she knows better now. Maybe better than most. "What's the point o' bein' friends if ya feel like ya can't trust 'em?" the female offered quietly. Even her crewmates that she wasn't necessarily - close to, she needed to feel like she could trust them, and it was important they felt the same towards her, which is why she hated keeping secrets so much, and was so bad at lying as a child. Truthfully, she probably could never be a spy herself, even if her appearance wouldn't give her away immediately (as far as she knew, she did not possess shapeshifting powers). She had sensed a hint of anger within the female when she'd spoken the words, though she would not ask about it for now. Goldie, after all, is not a nosy individual. They all had their reasons to be angry. She knew she sure as fuck did. If she knew Sam thought she was easy to talk to, the female would have put on a bright smile. The female always made an effort to be a conversationalist, even if the constant interactions wore her down eventually, because she figured that was important - her papa had been so good at it, so, so should she. And, with a little practice, she was, and then she even got to be head of the communication guild. An introvert being in charge of communication, isn't that funny? She still agreed, though, and she knows why now, that communication is important. Being able to speak smoothly and clearly is a skill she is very glad to have learned early on, despite any drawbacks that had came along (failure, fear, lost memories). Politics are like a game, and friends are simply something she enjoys having. However, the female would give a nod as she stated she enjoyed her company. She didn't mind providing it. The tigress' feathered ear tips twitched to her assurance that she would be fine, and she would sit down herself, sighing silently. "There's no rush, I don' mind havin' ya here," the female would respond after Sam apologizes, shrugging slightly. "M' dad would always come t' visit m' papa n' I when he led Snowbound n' we were allies, so 've got no problems wit' lettin' an ally stay on the island." There is a hint of sadness, and nostalgia, as she mentions Jacob, and her papa. It was too long ago for her to grieve anymore, though. "Besides, I used to be roommates wit' Beck." She'd laugh and cut herself off from expanding on that - Sam could figure out for herself where she was trying to go with that. Of course, she'd no idea of any sour notes the boy may bring up - she still appreciated him for when he was there, no matter how chaotic and destructive he'd been. Re: vanilla twilight xx goldie - deimos - 07-17-2019
Sam didn't quite honestly know if they were friends. Sure, they treated her like one of their own, but did they really consider her a friend? She was a shut in, worthy only to be friends with her vice. "M.. most of them I can trust. Two I can't right now." She raised a paw, itching the back of her neck awkwardly. She looked back out across the water. Beck- she hated beck. Leroy just confused her. Couldn't he see that Beck was the cause of these problems? Sam didn't want him dead or anything- she just wanted to stop having the blame. Her eyes closed, her ears perking at her next statement. She glanced towards Goldie as she spoke, her eyes wide open. Why was Goldie tellin' her all of this? It seemed almost inconcievable that she'd, yknow, actually get to talk to someone personally or one on one. She blinked, then looked back towards the water. She relaxed slowly, listening both to Goldie's quiet voice and the waters washing against the shore. It was peaceful here, better then the constant fear of finding a frog with six legs or coming muzzle to muzzle with a gator. However, as she said Beck, and laughed, her eyes closed. "Beck is a sore spot with me right now. Burned all m' cigs." Sam sighed, opening her eyes. Her eyes were narrowed, squinted in anger. It was clearly more than a sore spot, more like an open wound. [align=center]She would give a slight nod to the female's response. She supposes she was a bit more fortunate, too, being the captain's daughter and all. Most folks knew better than to show her a hard time, either they were afraid of her or of her papa (or even both). Caesar, perhaps, was the only exception to this, but she had confidence as a child that he was simply an asshole - not someone to betray them. And, ultimately, she'd been mostly correct, up until she and Bakugou had been chosen over him as quartermaster, and he decided to show them all his true colors. He'd not shown face since, though, and she'd little reason to worry over him. He wasn't very strong in the first place, just really fucking sadistic and hot-headed. She didn't find herself running into anyone else - besides the male she'd already thought of - that she'd think would betray her. Of course, there were their previous allies - all of them. All of them can go burn for all she cares (one of them did, too). Her ears would perk a little curiously about Beck being a sore spot, wondering what the child was up to now, only for her question to immediately be answered. Burned her cigarettes, oh. It'd been a while since she'd encountered anyone who smoked, it seemed like most folks knew the harms with it. Of course, she didn't know why Beck did it nor did she plan to judge Sam for it. It wasn't her life - everyone had their reasoning behind the shit they chose (now, whether or not it was always good reasons, she was not to be the judge of, most of the time). He'd been chaotic and destructive, but she still couldn't help but think of him fondly as an old friend ."Thas' a shame. The lil' guy saved my life once or twice," the female would state lightly, tilting her head back. She'd made some pretty stupid choices as a kid. "M' papa smoked," the words were a casual remark, not really eliciting any sort of reply, but lead into her next set of words. "Could prolly find some lyin' 'round somewhere." Maybe not the most responsible offer, but it wasn't her job to monitor everyone's health - so long as they weren't dying on her. She's the pirate captain, not the world's doctor. "You're on some rich pirates' good sides now, so do with that what ya will," Goldie would joke, chuckling. Truthfully, she had way too much shit - she just really liked collecting, even if she did eventually get tired of having all of it and gave it away. It made for useful events and unique gifts, which was certainly one of her specialties. Re: vanilla twilight xx goldie - deimos - 07-26-2019
Her eyes dulled at Goldie's response. Saved her life? Huh. That was funny, considering Sam felt like she was dying inside. She didn't know Beck's true intentions with, yknow, burning her life away. Sam's gaze dipped back to her paws again, vision of black, greased backed hair whipping in the wind, her head pressed against his back to block the wind. Her breath caught. Sam tasted bitter acid. She looked back across the waves. He didn't ever come, did he? She looked towards Goldie again as she spoke about her father. "I.. don't know if going back on them is the best thing." She said, looking at Goldie's paws as her ears flattened. Sam really didn't know if backtracking on what she was doing now was good. Weaning her off might be a good idea, but letting Sam continue to try and find cigarettes? They'd run out eventually. "Rich pirates, huh?" Sam would hardly chuckle at that, a small grin cracking. What an illusion of space. Sam bit her tongue again. Why was it anytime her heart soared, or hoped, those Grey men would hit her mind- or the man she had almost come to love? Why was it that when her heart ached, it was always him she was blaming? Sam's green eyes closed again, tail lashing behind her. [align=center]"Good choice," the female would flash an approving, toothy grin towards her refusal. While she wasn't here to judge - it wasn't any of her business to know the why's what's of things like smoking, she would be glad to hear anyone quit an unhealthy habit like that. After all, her papa may be the best, but she never stated he was the smartest. Perhaps cunning and good with assessing social situations, but still not the wisest when it came to decisions for his own self. At least he'd made an effort to step away any time he would go for a smoke, not forcing anyone - much less his child, to sit in his own fumes. She was a bit less immortal than him, as far as she could tell, anyway, and she was all too familiar with the scents, the choking, the damage, experiencing it first hand. She'd never been interested in that sort of thing. There was no time to be killing her body in unproductive ways. (Refusing to sleep, at least, let her be productive.) She would be pleased to hear her quip landed, feathered ear tips twitching. "One man's trash is another pirate's treasure. Junk's fun t' collect, when ya know how t' use it." She'd offer with a small shrug. Most of that junk, to be honest, ended up becoming jewelry. It was just the easiest, most universal way to use it. Her eyes would drift towards the shark tooth necklace supposedly given from her papa, one of her paws reaching up to mess with it subconsciously. Her feather earring and now necklace to always remind her, he'd always return, eventually. She'd drift her attention away from her necklace and back to Sam, bringing herself back to the conversation at hand. "Ain' jus' called Goldenluxury for m' fur." To be fair, there was a lot of meaning behind her name. It earned itself a place in the dictionary at this point. Goldenluxury Roux is an oxymoron of sorts - she was simply destined to be so. |
