fade into the night — meeting 8/25 + stepping down - jericho - 08-25-2018

"Ah... S-Sunhaven, gather over here please!"

The call rings through the air, crisp and clear in the ever-dimming light of the sunset.  Another week passes them by, each day whirling beyond him like leaves caught in the ever-rushing stream of time.  Each time he jumps up here and sits down and waits, lost in his thoughts, and awaits the arrival of his clanmates, he's shocked by just how quickly meeting time has come once more.  With pricked ears and tail nestled over his paws he listens to the shuffling of pawsteps and murmur of voices until they begin to die down and the tabby clears his throat lightly.  He's been dreading having to say this for so long, but closes his eyes for a brief moment and decides to just jump in.

"This... uh, th-this might be a surprise to some — or not, I... don't really know — but I've decided to step down from leader."  The words hang in the air, damp and heavy like a cloud.  Jericho feels a knot in his stomach — is he letting them down, doing this so soon?  Sunhaven is still relatively new and they still haven't fully grown into their skin, but Jericho knows that he can't be the one to get them there anymore.  Does he seem a coward, running from his responsibility?  Will they look down on him?  Maybe he deserves it, and yet this is the only thing he can think of to do without somehow hurting them more.  His honey-hued eyes blindly flicker until the lower to the fountain below, paws shuffling and rubbing anxiously at the coarse concrete.  He swallows shakily.  "I-I've had a great time as your Helion, really, and I will always love this place and want to continue to help it grow, but I-I'm not the right person for the job.  I'm... ah, I-I've never been much of a leader type."  The last sentence is admitted with a sheepish smile, still shy and embarrassed but rather making light of himself and the situation.  Jericho knows it — they all do.  He's a gardener, a medic, anything but a leader.  Even after all of this, he can't come to think of himself that way.  "I came into this position... ah, b-by necessity, really, not out of merit, and right now I think... I think we need someone who really deserves it in charge.

The ginger tabby hesitates, shifting anxiously and trying to gauge for a reaction as he slowly continues, "That's why I'd like Quantum to step up in my place.  I... I know she has the energy and drive Sunhaven needs."  The words he speaks are true; though Quantum can be reckless, she's determined and bold and he hopes she'll bring with her a breath of fresh air.  As soon as he speaks the tigress's name it feels like a ten-ton weight is lifted off of his shoulders, like he can finally breathe after holding his breath underwater.  There's still a ball of uncertainty that sits in his gut, anxieties over what his clanmates will think of him, but for now the responsibility itself has been lifted and bestowed upon another and he's suddenly at ease.  The blind Sunbearer smiles weakly; he's meek and hesitant but warm as ever, eyes soft but kind like the setting sun's rays.  "R-Really, ah, thank you all for giving me this opportunity.  I'm sorry it ended so soon, but I don't regret any of it.  And I know Quantum will do fantastic."

With that he rises unsteadily to his white paws and leaps down with gentle grace from the fountain's lip onto the cool wood of the boardwalk.  He doesn't belong up there anymore, he's meant to be down here in the crowd with the others where he now slowly takes his seat.  It's a passing of a torch, a new era, and in spite of everything Jericho will remain to see where it takes him.

OOC: Hey y'all!  I'm sure you can read the title, and though Sunhaven hasn't been around long I think those who know me will have seen this coming.  I love this place a whole heck of a lot and didn't quite get to do everything I wanted, but I've got a ton of stuff on my plate irl and just can't be around as much as I know y'all need me to be, and though I want to continue to help make this place better I'm still a casual roleplayer at heart and I don't want my activity to hurt the clan as a whole.  I'm not planning on leaving or anything (you'll see me and Jeri around some!), but I'm passing on leadership to Axiom/Quantum.  Thank you all for letting me lead even if it was just for a little while, you're a fantastic community and I know Axi will do great! <3

I didn't want to make any announcements, changes, or promotions/demotions because I knew I wouldn't be in charge this coming week, so I'm leaving the floor open for Axi to take over with stuff if they'd like.

Re: fade into the night — meeting 8/25 + stepping down - GORDON CIPHER. - 08-25-2018

Gordon was quick to come over at Jericho's call, though the air the blind male held was different than the past few meetings she had been through. Jericho was a shy person, just like her, but there was just something different about this meeting. And as soon as she finished her thought, Jericho announced that he was stepping down. Gordon's ears pricked in surprise, although she supposed it made sense; after all, she wouldn't want to lead an entire clan. She couldn't imagine herself leading a clan, taking care of a whole mass of people, and she couldn't imagine the stress Jericho was going through while leading Sunhaven. Hell, the guy admitted he didn't even want the be leader, and that had to effect a lot of his emotions regarding how he did things.

Quantum, however, was a good replacement for him. She was strong and almost like a natural leader, even if she did scare Gordon a bit. "Con-congrats, Quantum!" The little she-cat squeaked out, though she kind of hoped her voice was drowned out by all of her clanmates. She just didn't like the way her voice sounded, but she did support Quantum and was happy for the large tigress. Gordon didn't move from her spot, however, figuring that Quantum had some things to talk about.

So Jericho was stepping down? Ilijas still didn’t understand this whole clan hierarchy thing, not realizing that a leader didn’t need to be vexed with illness or death to hand off their power to another. With that in mind, he appeared visibly perplexed as he appeared after Gordon, a metaphorical brow stitching together. Jericho was a good guy and a good leader- he would be missed most definitely. Did he say that? Did he say anything? Or did he wait for whatever Quantum had to say? Eventually, Ilijas resigned to silence, merely bobbing his head in acknowledge of the announcements.

Pierce had been eager to approach at the sound of Jericho's voice, though at the sight of the other, he felt his mouth go dry. Was something wrong? Had someone gotten hurt, or something, or had a clan, like, declared war on them? The latter sounded absurd, as Sunhaven had never done anything, but you never know. However, the moment the orange tabby began speaking again, everything was cleared up. Stepping down? Why? He'd been doing a fine job, Pierce had thought. The slender tom couldn't help the soft frown that tugged at his lips, but he was at least consoled by the fact that Jeri wasn't leaving. He liked the guy - like, really liked him - and he wouldn't lie that he was disappointed he was stepping down. But it was true, it was probably for the best of the clan. Besides, Quantum would do a fine job- well, probably. Pierce didn't really know her, but if Jeri trusted her, he was probably right. "Uh- congrats, Quantum," spoke the serval, voice raised only slightly. It wasn't that big of a deal - nothing was really gonna change - and he was sure Quantum and Jeri were happy, so that was all that mattered.

MONROE
MALE — SUNHAVEN — SUNBEARER — HARD
What was said at the meeting came as a surprise to the mutant. He didn't think that Jericho would step down from his position as Helion. Or maybe it was just himself never having imagined that the male would do such a thing himself and seeing him as a fitting leader. Which ever the case was this was a bit of a shock for him and he looked at Jericho with surprise still in his pearl like gaze. At one point there was a thought that made him think to talk the other male out of it but at the same time this was his decision and not his own. He shook a little as he sat down and he took a deep breath in. Well, the next in line was Quantum which was a good thing and he thought that she would make a great leader. Strong and dependable and that was what Sunhaven needed just like with Jericho. Taking a deep breath he gave a small smile as he looked up at Jericho once more, supportive of his means. "Thank ya for serving as our Helion, Jericho. We really appreciate ya for it." It was a tough job that was for sure and he gave a light dip of his head before looking for the familiar tiger that had gotten promoted to the ranking of their new leader. "Congratulations, Quatum, I just know ya will do great."

Re: fade into the night — meeting 8/25 + stepping down - Beverly Resurgam. - 08-26-2018

[align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;"]The short girl came padding up at the call for a meeting, eyes scanning over the small crowd that grew as the stranger spoke down on them, taking her place beside Ilijas. She tilted her head to the side, not really understanding entirely what was going on. She had only attended a meeting or two back in the Ascendants, and this was her first here in Sunhaven, and their leader was... stepping down?

Beverly blinked, trying to place names to faces. She was sure she had never seen this 'Quantum' person before. "Oh, congrats to Quantum," she'd chime in, following suite with the others.

The maine coon was the next one to slip into the scene, padding in on paws as light as feathers. The maine coon weaved his way through the crowd, trying his best not to rub his long fur against others, making his way to his spot. As he sat down at his usual spot and his ears pricked up, he was surprised what he heard come out of Jericho's mouth. Stepping down? Buckingham wasn't exactly expecting to hear Jericho announce that- as he believed the now former Helion was doing an exceptional job. But maybe Jericho was feeling different, and that he believed stepping down and passing on the responsibility of Helion was best for the group.

Bucky wasn't surprised that Quantum was offered the position. Bucky only knows her from the war guild, as she's the one in charge of them. With a flick of his tufted ear, the former assassin spoke up with a quick meow. "Congratulations, Quantum!"

PERSEPHONE — FEMME — SUNHAVEN — SUNBEARER — 4 M/O
It truly was a pity, to watch and see rulers step down from their position. It happened very rarely in Olympus, only really happening when a god or goddess fell in love with a mortal and ditched their position to be with them. It was bad, but Persephone could relate. She was the goddess of spring, after all. She had been tricked by Hades into becoming his wife, but it didn't take long for her to actually fall in love with the King of the Underworld.

Nevermind this, Persephone sat beside Bucky as she listened to Jericho step down from his position as Helion, a look of pity in her eyes. "You served well, Jericho. Congratulations, Quantum."

IN THE SUMMER SILENCE,
I WAS GETTING VIOLENT
Sunset seemed the typical time for a meeting - though she still remembered, with some irritation, when he held it bloody first thing in the morning. Still, she heard his call, and walked through the beach town to stand with the others. The announcement from the blind tabby, however, startled her; her vermilion eyes narrowed, head tilting slightly as she second guessed her own ears. But as he continued to elaborate on the underlying reasoning for his choice, she found herself nodding in agreement; after all, the tigress made no secret whenever she opposed Jericho's decisions. But she never anticipated he'd decide to step aside and hand leadership over to his vocal opposition. His vocal opposite, as she doubted the blind medic could find anyone more different from him anywhere.

Her muscles rippled as she moved towards him, her steps near silent as she moved towards the fountain. With her great height, she easily stepped up to the stone lip of the landmark, tail arching through the air as she turned to face the members of Sunhaven. Admittedly, she doubted herself a little; she led primarily on the battlefield, securing the Caralho's military superiority in the far away lands she hailed from. Leading a peaceful merchant group rubbed against her nature. Though to hell with succumbing to doubts; if she handled leadership in wartimes, she assumed she'd adjust easily enough to peacetime leadership style.

"Thank you, Jericho, and everyone else," the tigress started, glancing at the blind tabby before she turned her attention to the gathered group as a whole. She didn't have anything prepared - not officially, anyway. But as a tried and tested leader, she always held some script she worked on in the back of her head for occasions like this: how she'd address so-and-so about such-and-such idea. "Let's jump into it, hm? I'd like to welcome - in no particular order - joiners and vacationers to Sunhaven: Jerseyboy, Sparrow, Sanyi, Anzarel, Corryn, Acacia, Des, Hana, Levi, and Irene. If any of you are interested in the guilds, we've got one each for medicine, art, and warfare, so I recommend you sign up for any you're interested in to meet some like minded folks here," she spoke, just before she added, "There are meetings for all three up, so pop in if you'd like. I'm planning on looking for a new head of the warfare guild, and I believe Ja'sunna is looking for someone to replace her as the head of the impressionists, so make sure to attend those meetings if you're interested."

Taking a bit of a breather, she took a moment to mentally tick some boxes and remember the faces she'd seen around Sunhaven lately. "Now for the rank shuffles. No demotions, but I'm giving warnings to Ja'sunna and Pele; get around the group more this week to keep your hearthkeeper slots," the tigress spoke, starting with getting the bad news out of the way. With a twitch of her ear, she continued, "Now, congrats to a whole slew of people are in order. Monroe is bumped up to goldenblood for his contributions. I'd like to promote Pierce, Ilijas, and Gordon to dawnguard. Beverly, Persephone, and and Bucky can step up to hearthkeepers." That seemed good to her; she wanted the ranking system in Sunhaven a bit more fleshed out, so they seemed more like a properly organized group than a revolving door for strangers.

"In addition to that, we've got some festivals coming up. Monroe and the rest of the divines are planning a hearth festival for September first, so keep an eye out for that. We also... might end up actually doing a Founding Festival to celebrate Sunhaven's founding - if y'all are interested in that, I can start that shit - it'd comprise of us opening up our shops and inviting allies and neutrals to trade, as well as party with us later in the evening," Quantum added with a small nod. She stopped there, with that being the end of her announcements - as well as the only bit that she actually needed some feedback on.

[align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;"]She watched as a bengal tiger appeared before her and only when she began speaking did she make the connection that that was Quantum. Their new leader. She listened curiously to what was said, a lot of the names being somewhat familiar, and she bumped her shoulder into Ilijas' when his promotion was announced. Beverly's face froze, however, when her own name was mentioned. A hearthkeeper? "Oh, uh, thank you! And congrats to everyone else, too!" she chirped, taken back by her sudden position change. To say it was unexpected was to say the least.
