AURUM
DO NO HARM BUT TAKE NO SHIT !

Aurum was... not a great cook, admittedly. One couldn't really blame him, considering the fact that he had grown up in a pride full of lions that weren't exactly known for their cooking. For the most part all of them just chowed down on any prey they could get while it was raw, and that had been good enough for Aurum for quite a while. Nowadays he knew how to cook a little bit, but he never did anything spectacularly
fancy. For the most part, all of his cooking just involved taking a piece of meat and dangling it over a fire until it looked brown, rather than that usual raw pink. However, that felt... well, like a little bit of a cop out, at least in this case. He didn't want to show up at a potluck with just a big piece of cooked meat and call it a day, as much as he was sure some people would've been fine with that. So, instead, he had spent the entire day preparing something that his family's heritage was known for. One fact that most people didn't know about him was that his family was English. He no longer really held the accent that most of his family had once had, but he did know some of the older recipes they had all enjoyed making, and he knew one that had tasted rather delicious to him when he was a cub and it had rarely been served to him. That particular dish was fish and chips, and it thankfully hadn't been as much of a disaster to cook as he had originally thought it would be.

It had been a little bit of a challenge, getting all the oil that he needed to cook not only the fish as well as the potatoes for the chips, but he had managed, with just a little bit of help from some of his friends over at the tavern. After he was done, the kitchen area of the tavern had been left in an absolute state of chaos, but he had promised that he would clean in up after he returned back home – although it wouldn't surprise him if it ended up being the following day, considering he expected to be exhausted by the time he reached his large swampland home. Hopefully because he was partying and having fun with a bunch of the Typhoon crew members, rather than because he was frustrated or exhausted from a bad day out. Either way, Aurum found himself flying into Typhoon territory carefully, heading for the bay with a basket full of fish and chips. The smell was tantalizing, and there had been more than a few times on the way over where he had been forced to stop himself from just eating it all on his own. Thankfully he had made it, and he landed heavily on the sand before long, padding over to one of the tables that was set up and heaving the basket up onto it. Once his dish was away from his eager jaws and oversensitive nose, he allowed himself a look around, taking in the blankets scattered all around and the beautiful sun reflecting off the ocean in the distance.

Smiling a little at the warm and cozy nature of it all, the proxy of Tanglewood let his eyes roam around until eventually they came upon Goldie, the leader looking awfully pleased with herself for her event planning skills. He couldn't say that he wouldn't agree with her on the quality of the whole thing, and he soon found himself padding over, warm smile and all. With all the stress going on in his regular life as of late, it was nice to just take a break and get away from it all for a while, and he intended to thank the tigress for giving him the opportunity. Gently bumping a shoulder up against Goldie's as he sat beside her, Aurum chuffed affectionately, watching as some of the Typhooners arrived and settled,  "Hey Goldie. This place looks pretty damn nice, you did a good job setting it all up... I hope you pirates still like fish, because I worked my ass off cooking subpar fish and chips for you guys." He offered Goldie a toothy little smile as he said this, his eyes tired but twinkling with amusement. He found himself wondering, briefly, if there would be drinks at this thing.

Re: GET CARRIED AWAY / potluck + truth/dare - deimos - 02-02-2020

If you asked Sam, yeah, this would probably be just as hard as taking something from Goldie. 'This' was cooking. She was malnourished, and trying to lug something all the way here. So, instead, Sam did something.. a bit more creative. Well, not supberly creative, but something was better then nothing, right? Her ears twitched as she managed to stumble in behind Aurum, and for a moment, slowly sink into the sand in front of Goldie and Aurum. She groaned for a moment, her mismatched eyes shifting up towards them. And out came an admittance, something that rarely came from Sam at all. "Maybe I need to get healthier."

With that, she grumbled as she pushed herself up, stretching and letting what little form she had wriggle out all of the sore spots from walking here. She turned towards an empty spot, and with a deep inhale, conjured a bucket with ice. Well, the bucket wasn't completely full with ice, it was halfway water. Don't even ask where Sam got the ice. She reached up, pushing a paw against her nose and conjured the other half of this, well, journey. Slowly, different bottles popped up, many alcoholic and a few of them just water. She finally flopped her butt down, ears flattened as she stared at her work.

She wheezed, then, in and out and her eyes narrowed. It took a minute before she was finally settling back down, coughing here and there. With that, she turned and dragged her deery ass back towards Goldie. "Brought th' booze. You're welcome, because I nearly died doing it." She replied with a huff, trying to put on a tough face in front of Aurum. Probably.

Re: GET CARRIED AWAY / potluck + truth/dare - ROSEMARY - 02-02-2020

Rosemary has always hated socializing. But she loved tea. And she loved teaching people about tea. With the potluck came the opportunity to bond with others, learning about their tastes through their taste in cuisine, and potentially get a few additional answers on how they worked.

And to see her family. Rosemary hasn’t talked with Goldie in weeks, and hasn’t seen Roxie since her sister’s return – how much else has she missed out on? The social anxiety grabbed hold of her heart and held firm. Yet now… she thought those claws weakened, if only for a day.

Forked tails swishing behind her, the ocelot finished setting up the teapots and the labels before them. Orange blossom oolong, peach black tea, sweetened green tea, and herbal citrus were her chosen varieties. Rosemary herself loved fruity teas more than herbal ones, and her personal collection reflected that bias. Earl grey, in her opinion, was highly overrated.

Her mouth watered at the smell of Goldie’s creamy linguine and the Tanglewooder’s fish and chips; her toes curled into the sand, and the ocelot set off to their tables. Her social anxiety, roaring in her ears, was dwarfed by the hunger gnawing at her stomach. “I‌ can smell the spice from here, Goldie. Is the kick as strong as Pincher’s?” she asked the captain, though she nearly regretted bringing him up in such an abrupt manner – they’d never talked about him, but she often thought they should.

“Subpar fish and chips? Then you haven’t seen my sorry excuse for a meal,” Rosemary said, trying her hand at sliding into the conversation. She’d been working on her conversation skills – mostly by reading books with excessive amounts of dialogue. It was working… slowly. “I‌’m Rosemary Roux. I don’t think we’ve met?”

She glanced over her shoulder to the wheezing cat, one pair of her four eyes breaking away from the Goldie and Autumn to look at her. “You sound like you need to get better. Are you alright?” Rosemary’s first thought, given the season, was some kind of cold or flu – which seemed a disaster for an event dealing with food and plenty of vectors to carry the disgusting germs.

Re: GET CARRIED AWAY / potluck + truth/dare - toboggan - 02-02-2020

By the time his dish had exited the cooking process, it appeared as though it was more likely to eat him - rather than the other way around. Eggs Benedict Casserole. That was the dish the wolfhound sank four of his day's hours into. Four wearisome hours consisting solely of nonstop trials and tribulations, near-death experiences, and gut-wrenching failures, along with a handful of instances in which Leroy's kitchen nearabout engulfed itself in flames. The recipe seemed really easy too, and for the first thirty minutes, the mongrel truly felt that he had the gist of it. So where had he gone wrong? Was it when he had mistakenly substituted sugar for salt, or when he used mustard in place of Hollandaise sauce? Of course, there was also the time where the eggs turned into a grisly brown, an event that also altered the serving's scent into smelling of calamity. Upon the recipe book's page, the entrée struck as a homey, delicious, savoury meal. In reality, however, it resembled what would occur if a skunk had an offspring with a slug - both in appearance and smell.

Tanglewood's leader arrives to the occasion with a visage of worry plastered across his mug. He typically didn't give a rat's bony ass about what people saw of him, or his ungodly edible creations. Everybody on the island was an animal, after all, so what did they know about food? Howbeit, today's celebration was an event shared by the two tight-knit tribes; embarrassment was not an option. Upon arrival, the tall male immediately sought the chance to obscure his dish amongst the rest. He bounds towards the table topped with the most foodstuffs and strategically places the receptacle containing the atrocious casserole abaft the other attendants' nourishments, so that detecting it among the other choices would prove strenuous.

Phew.

Now that his primary task was out of the way, the male allowed himself to relax. He would have gone out of his way to indulge himself in smalltalk with those present, but with everyone else apparently wrapped up in a giant, intertwining conversation, he figured it'd be best to simply wait for someone to approach him. As much as he enjoyed Goldenluxury's presence, the number of people setting themselves on her was far too great for him to get involved. Was he well-known enough to garner another's attention, though? That, he was unsure of. He guesses that he'll just have to wait and see.

Re: GET CARRIED AWAY / potluck + truth/dare - ROXANNE R. - 02-04-2020

[glow=white,1,400]I LOVE YOU, CANNIBAL QUEEN !。+゚.[/glow]
A potluck!

How quaint, she was excited to show off her baking skills as well as a few recipes that she had picked up along the way. It made her remember how she used to not be so great at the whole baking thing, she could recall that her first batch of cookies had been rather... Crisp. But now, Roxanne could present something that everyone would surely love or so, she could hope that everyone would like whatever came out of her kitchen. She had taken an afternoon to start on her few dishes, she shamelessly began on her cream cheese filled red velvet cupcakes making sure she used her bigger set of baking cupcake pans. Roxie had gotten the perfect recipe down, most of her crewmates loved them, she knew she liked them quite a bit. She always had to stop herself from licking the cupcake batter from a wooden spoon, her face always heating up with embarrassment. If what she brought to the event wasn't a obvious giveaway to her sweet tooth, well, she wouldn't know what else to say. Roxie made a few batches of her cream cheese filled cupcakes, she would put the frosting she had prepared onto the cupcakes in such a delicate manner. She would smile at her baked goods unable to stop herself from eating a few but nobody needed to know that.

Next, she had decided to tackle down a bit of a more difficult dessert which had proven quite a challenge. It had been a frustrating process overall, Roxie didn't like the way some of the first few batches had turned out, she had been trying to make some macaroons with homemade jam. The jam had been the easiest part, the making of the macaroon shells had been the hellish experience. She had burnt herself a few times here and there with her hissing out a loud in pain "Mierda!" She could have scrapped the whole idea of hers but, damn it all, Roxanne Roux was much too stubborn or prideful to quit. So after a few failures, she had managed to get the macaroons to look and taste, the way she wanted them to. She had eaten a few macaroons too, they were just too good not to snatch a few for herself. She was treating herself. She had made plenty of them after so many tiring hours, she slipped them gently into a basket, she separated them from one another with a thin piece of cardboard. All of her goodies already being loaded onto Kalayavan's back, mainly cause he had offered himself willingly.

Her last and final dish, was mainly out to honor the very friend that had taught her Spanish,  well, more than friend. Planecrash. She missed him dearly so she supposed that this dish would be a way to remember him, she decided to make a spin on chocolate cake and the dessert that reminded her so much of the man who had given her such soft love, flan. A chocoflan to be exact. Though chocolate was bad for most animals so, she had decided to go with a bit more red velvet since she was certain that would go well with her cream cheese filled cupcakes. It didn't take her as long to make seeing as it was pretty simple in her eyes and much less complicated than the macaroons. She giggled when the flan would jiggle slightly from where it sat on top of the cake half, she drizzled some caramel on top of it. And she was all set! She was sure that Goldenluxury would bring delicious dishes so she thought it would be pretty cool if she brought some desserts. Roxie carefully flew on top of Kalayavan's head only to pat him gently "Let's head out, babe." She made sure that her grip on the flan was tight, she still couldn't help but giggle everytime it jiggled with every step Kal took.

It didn't take long for them to get there and Roxie would look down from her reptiles back, she would mew with amusement "I hope you lot love desserts!" With a spread of her wings, she made her way to the tables and found a place where she would place down her flan. It didn't take long before she went back and forth from Kalayavan picking off the last of her baked treats, she would place out the macaroons carefully and then her cream cheese filled cupcakes on a few dishes. A proud smile tugging at her lips, she hoped that they didn't mind her not making a lot of desserts instead of an actual dish, that bit had slipped her mind and it was much too late to prepare something now. She would give Kal a pat on the head murmuring her gratitude to him, the large reptile would let out a loud hiss only to retreat to the ocean. She spotted Rosemary immediately letting out a soft gasp did she quickly bolt over to the other aiming to wrap Rosemary into an embrace, Roxie could feel her tail lashing excitedly to the sides as she mewed "What the fuck, when did you come back!? I missed you so much, Rosie!" One of her sisters were home and she hadn't realized it or maybe it was due to the feline hiding away seeing as Rosemary wasn't the most social. She would release the other if her attempt at a hug had been successful, she would mew with a grin on her maw "You missed out on so much! You have a nephew now, he's the sweetest lil boy..." Then with a light shrug of her shoulders, she added rather cheekily "And I'm spoken for now," By who, she wouldn't say but anyone that had been around the time Roxie had been crushing on said person would know.

Her mismatched gaze would turn over in the direction of those there, her smile grew much larger as she would speak up a bit more to greet those that were currently surrounding her niece "Hola!" Her eyes filled with a sudden concern to the female that was wheezing quite a bit, she hoped she didn't have a bad cold or anything. She would introduce herself with a light dip of her head "I'm Roxanne Roux, y'all can call me Roxie though. Or whatever appeals," She said with a shrug, she had plenty of nicknames and well, she supposed that she wouldn't mind getting a few more. Nicknames usually meant friendship, didn't it? Maybe she would gain a few friends from this event. [glow=COLOR,1,400]✧*:・゚[/glow]

Re: GET CARRIED AWAY / potluck + truth/dare - OCTANE. - 02-08-2020

Their maid had taught Octane more about cooking than his parents ever did. Octane didn't find much entertainment in it, too much waiting, especially when it came to foods like tamales. Octane was perfectly happy with fried rice, and needed to carb-load before the games when he was human.
Caustic would have questioned why these animals were capable of cooking, but Octane didn't bother to do so because it was probably good and he was hungry. Running so much in this form required him to eat more in order to prevent passing out. Octane was already swiping samples of all the dishes from the table like a hungry child.
Maybe Caustic would show up. If he wasn't in one of these clans, then he had to be in an uncharted territory and that would make Octane's search significantly harder. So Octane, with the food he had swiped, retreated to an empty spot where he could watch everyone arriving to see if the scientist would show himself.

Vathmos didn't know what cooking was until she joined the clans and still didn't know a thing about it. That didn't bother her, though. She was perfectly happy with raw animal meat. It was comforting to her.
Vathmos brought food too, but it certainly wasn't like any of the nice dishes. The hyena brought a piece of cow meat with her, stolen from the farm. Vathmos had the care to wrap the five pound slice of sirloin in wrapping as she carried it in her jaws. She entered soon after Aurum, and deposited the meat at the table.

Re: GET CARRIED AWAY / potluck + truth/dare - deimos - 02-08-2020

Slowly, the burning in her lungs, her chest settled. Maybe it was a sign she should've stayed home. The nervous, sick feeling in her throat only was aggravated, thinking about the flight to the island a few days ago made it worse. She coughed again for a moment, before blinking gently. The warmth was something Sam couldn't resist instinctively as Goldie tucked her in closer. Her ears flattened for a moment, a nervous glance casted towards Aurum, then Leroy, then back towards Goldie. "It's no' for me. Everyone. It's a party, right?" She replied, blinking gently at her. There was.. some lie in that innocent truth. Sam would be drinking by the end of the night.

However, the wheezing did bring attention and concern. Two things Sam would have liked to avoid. Parties weren't really her thing, even back before the Abyssal Split. She coughed. However, the asthma problem had only gotten worse since her first chainsmoking event. "M' fine. Just a little bit of.. a tight chest." However, her reply got spoken over by Goldie. Her eyes lifted to her, matching for a moment. She darted them away just as quickly as Goldie did, reaching up to pat her own chest for a moment, trying to get the hoarseness out of the way.

"Uh yeah hi. Sam here." The same paw that was resting on her chest transitioned to waving for a moment, and she hesitated just before it hit the ground again. Did she want to get up and implore in the food? But that meant leaving Goldie's side, stepping away from the brushing fur. Her eyes slowly dropped to Goldie's far larger ones, twitching them for a moment, before awkward silence ensued, her mismatched eyes dropping away to watch the ice slowly start to melt around the booze.
