You Cant Teach Me Integrity (Snarl)
« on: October 06, 2019, 09:48:26 PM »
- ♔ - Olalla's eyes burned as he threw his head up, dramatically mind you, from the crystal waters. He shook himself off, droplets of water flying from his bloodied pelt. It had only been a few hours beforehand that Olalla had taken down an elk, surprisingly the lean male took it down with a few calculated swift bites. He'd been kicked and smacked and the hoof marks were just now turning purple instead of turning colour in a few days. He hated this. Not being kicked by the elk, but constantly having bruises and smelling like blood. He already smelled like stagnant water, what could be worse!? Maybe he'll just roll in a pile of shit just to top it off.

- ♔ - As he felt his tongue grow hot and it soon it started to glow as rage consumed his body. All he could think about was just breaking something, but with out any bottles to break his tongue slowly dimmed its light. The rage drained form his body as if somebody scoped him up and pored out his emotions like water from a water bottle. The yellow orbs upon his face glistened as the sun crawled up the sky and rose to its full height. Olalla squinted his eyes and growled under his breath in annoyance. Why cant the sun just piss off, he thought. Though he didnt mind the sun, a shady day would be nice. He rolled his eyes at the thoughts that surged his min and he looked around.

"Where to next.." he mumbled
Darling, can't you see
I'm a broken man
With addictive tendencies
And I think I love you
But I don't ever think I can
Ever learn how to love just right
So run away from me
Run as far as your
Dark brown eyes can see

SNARL
The Land of The Dead

Snarl hadn't hunted in a few days. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, mind - it was just a simple fact. The gnoll was fine. She didn't need to eat that often.
And she was just wandering - despite her new Clan status, she had no fear of walking between territories as she did before. That wasn't to say, mind, the stench of herbivore blood didn't attract the hyena. A strong scent, at that, which was great for her damaged nose. Fresh, too - she's a hyena, can you blame her for scavenging?
Slowly, she padded through the earth, approached the clearing

It took a moment for Olalla's scent to hit her, as that of blood was so strong. But - not all of that was elk blood, huh? She stared through the underbrush as something happened to the other. They were glowing, and she could just barely see the rage on his face through the glare. It was certainly.... interesting, was a word to call it. Dangerous was another word, similarly applicable.

But, this was a single wolf - though she was a but smaller, they were close in size, and the hyena was, hopefully, sturdier. But cats tended to run easier than dogs - just cause she could bully away a lion doesn't mean a wolf will go so easily, even one bruised up.
Let's take a different route, perhaps.

The beast took a broad step out from the underbrush. Her tail was held out behind her, and she stood straight. Approached slowly - her posture was confident, but not yet threatening.

"Hello, friend! How goes it?"

- ♔ - Though the words she spoke slipped out of her muzzle easily, each letter she said spilled out like tar in Olalla eyes. What was she? She had a wolf's structure, a lions mane... and a bobcat's tail? She seemed abstract, and definitely optimistic. If she had strutted out with a challenging pose, he would have reacted badly. Olalla looked at her right in the eyes, just for shits and giggles. Plus he liked it when the creatures he met squirmed with anxiety from his stare. Olalla was fucked up, he knew this. It surprised him when anyone talked to him; especially females along with pups, cubs, fawns, and chicks. Just thinking of that word made him almost gag. Olalla hated it when males called females chicks, it annoyed him and he knew that it annoyed some females too. The dim light in his eyes grew pale as he spoke.

"Friend? Huh, never thought anyone would call me their friend. Whats a lass like you doing around here, shouldn't you be hunting with your pack? You got the stench of tanglewood all over you."

- ♔ - What in the actual hell am i saying, he thought. Stench. Really!? Okay, okay. Shut the hell up and be nice to a lass for once or you going to be a lonely little shit with no one to talk to! Olalla looked towards the elk , whom suspiciously looked very interested  in the two's conversation. Ugh, this was another thing he hated; being a dick to people. But it was just in his nature sadly.

The hyena was an amalgamation indeed - vaguely canine, but much more compact, with a thicket of fur lining her brown-tinged back. Stood proud and flashed bone-crushing teeth with each word, some easy grin covering up the sharp angles of her face. She seemed outwardly friendly, but her orange gaze was as sharp as her bones.
"You don't seem to be proving the friend statement wrong, Meg Gimal ."

She didn't break yet, making eye contact with Olalla and staring back. Blinked, as his eyes paled. Something about this creature felt... off, just like everything other damned creature around here. Why couldn't anyone just be normal?
Snarl couldn't show weakness, though.
Swallowed, before she continued.

Olalla may be fucked up, but Snarl was well versed in the art of ignoring her dangersense.

"Afraid 'M no 'lass', either. And I don't have a pack proper, even if I do reek'a Tanglewood. None I'd hunt with, anyways. Glorified strangers, and all that. 'M just taking a walk. What're you doin around here?"

Friendly. Confident! Approachable, though she was the one doing the approaching. That was what Snarl was striving to achieve with this persona - though perhaps her words had gotten a bit too toned in her latter statement.

- ♔ -  Olalla stood up straight, his ears pinning up. The beast was right, he wasn't exactly being nice to her and he doesn't usually admit that to himself or others. He titled his head when she spoke her last few words in that sentence.

"Meg Gimal... that would mean," he started to say. Olalla flicked his ear and tilted his head more. "What."

- ♔ -As she spoke, Olalla turned back his head from the tilt. He was no stranger to French and Russian, but he hadn't heard this work before. He blinked as she finished up her new sentence. To be honest, he didnt really know what he was doing here so he just made something up in his head real quick.

" What am i doing here? Well im um.. im hunting, i cant go forever without food." He puffed out his chest dramatically and smirked, " Im the future Devararian of the pack of Woestyn and i was scoping out the area. What are you doing here? Where are my manners, are you hungry? Id me..happy to share."

Bingo.
See? Diplomacy pays off. 'Specially when she's affiliated with people. Who knows how they'd react to her fighting? She wants to stay here for some amount of time, jeez. It was a bit of a hassle, but - Oh well. It probably afforded her some form or protection. Or at least a lack of aggression, which is always good.
At Olalla's question, the hyena pulled a toothy grin, but refrained from giving a direct answer.
"It's Gnille. Oughta learn it sometime."

Snarl kept eye contact with the wolf. Saw him scramble to come up with something - one of the gnoll's teardrop ears flicked. Kept up the grin. Not nervous, but he's on the spot. That's always good. Took a small step back and tilted her head as he introduced himself as.... whatever. Some form of heir, was her best guess. And some clan she hadn't heard of. Must have been too small to have been worth talking about, or hearing about.

Flowing into the movement, her muscled form attempting grace but not really succeeding, the hyena folded into some form of bow.
Raised back up pretty quickly - that was not comfortable. Shoved enthusiasm into her voice.

"'S an honor to meet you, future Devahrarrian. And thank you for the offer~ I can only expect great things from your clan!"

- ♔ -She completely disregarded his question entirely, though he did this often, he didn't necessarily appreciated it when others did it to him. The beast kept eye contact with him, he wasn't going to lie to himself; it was making him uncomfortable. Olalla blinked away for a moment, his brain clawing at his eyes; screaming at them to close. Gnille he thought. maybe i will. He gave a nervous huff when the beast before him bowed ungracefully, she shot up like an arrow. When she spoke, the fake enthusiasm dripped from her tongue, this time not like tar; but dripped as sweet honey. He didn't know why, and if she knew; if she could somehow read his mind, she wouldn't know why either. As she finished her words he scooted the leg he had ripped off beforehand.

"Its an honor to meet someone like you miss... i believe i never got your name," he dipped his head. "The names' Olalla."

Snarl absolutely didn't look away from Olalla. Even when she'd attempted the bow, that sharp, orange gaze was locked on the wolf. She was not easily shaken, and well, maintaining eye contact was only 'polite', wasn't it? Even if that eye contact was a near-unblinking stare, which she was concious of. So look on she shall.

As he sled the leg over, well, Snarl couldn't help but think she scored with who she'd stumbled upon. The enthusiasm in her voice was, perhaps, a touch more genuine this time.
"We've a real gentleman out here, haven't we? Thank you, again, for your offering, Olalla."

She'd abstained from offering her own name for a moment, crunching down on the venison.
Okay, maybe she had been hungry. But she'd still been fine. Completely fine. Still kept eyes locked on the newly named wolf. Stood up once again, only barely had the manners to finish chewing before she spoke.
"Honor's all mine, though I maintain 'Miss' ain't the right title for me. Name's Snarl."

Paused for a long moment.
"You take this big fucker down on your own? Thought dogs were pack hunters, but granted I've never seen one so large as yourself."

- ♔ - He was pretty sure that Snarl knew he was quite nervous from the constant eye contact, but he'll have to get used to it. After all, he was going to be The Devararian of Woestyn. I guess this is good practice? Oh what the hell am i saying, shut up and say something nice to her! Olalla watched as she munch somewhat happily on the leg, that was good. At least it wasn't his leg that was tore off. He shook his head as to rid the thoughts that clouded his mind. Olalla laughed when she called him a gentleman, he didn't think of himself as one but...oK

"Well Snarl, i hope you like the elk."

- ♔ - Dog... did she really just say dog.. He gave an annoyed snort, he wasn't as nearly as small or as short as dog. But she did call him large so he was fine. Just as long as she didnt call him a dog, Olalla was fine. The wolf snickered as she noticed his accomplishment. Truth be told, this was only the second elk he had take down but it was still an ekl and he was proud of himself. Olalla already knew what he was going to say. Ha, time to get technical.

"Yes ma'am, all on my own. Took a few calculated bites and the beast was on the ground heaving. I assure you, i am no dog. Im a pure bred Mackenzie River Candid Lupis of the Hellion category."

Snarl did, admittedly, feel the inner workings of her mind prickle just a little at the wolf's insistence with the titles. Paused for a moment, gaze simmering, before she blinked and let pass a small huff of breath.
When she raised her head once again, her gaze was less intense than it had been the moment before. She'd practically encouraged it, with the mention of him being a gentleman. Though she didn't know it, the hyena was probably real good practice for the people Olalla'd end up encountering. In some aspects, at least.

The hyena had genuinely never seen a wolf before! Though she wasn't unfamiliar with exotic and mixed company, she'd not frequented forests. But the creature in front of her was definitely canin, and most of those she'd known had been Painted Dogs. But Olalla was definitely bigger than of those, not to mention bulkier and thicker furred. Though she didn't recognize... whatever he called himself, well, 'canis' was in there. That probably meant dog.

"I am enjoying the elk, yes. You must have quite the skill to get in there without being trampled - Good job."
