I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD
"Wha-"

This was definitely not the way he had seen his first day going.

He was all ready to make a lasting impression, to carve himself a place in the hierarchy of high school. Yet here he was. Feet stumbling, his back hit the dumpster and he found himself flipping over into the mass of foul smelling trash, his face growing hot at the resounding laughter around him. He growls, jaw tightening as he clenches his teeth, nails digging into his palms when he balls his hands up into fists.

Greed climbs out of his dumpster of shame, marching back over to his group of greasers, who are all chuckling at him, too. They stop, though, when he yells at them in frustration. Running his hands over the front of his jacket, he grumbles under his breath as he shoves past them and towards his first class. He smelled like shit now, but there was little he could do about it. Great.

English. The best way to start off a day that was already shitty. Taking a look around, he realizes the girl that had made a fool of him just a minute ago was here, too. He just sneers and makes a bee-line for a desk in the back, doing his best to ignore the giggles that follow him. Fuckers, he'd show them later.

He plops down ungracefully into his seat, kicking out his legs and glaring holes down into the desk just as the bell rings. Of course he doesn't pay the teacher any mind as he starts off, not interested in whatever generic bull he had to say. He was too busy brooding over his embarrassment.

I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD
Never in a million years did he think he would fall in love again, or at least give into such feelings, but here he was, laying here and cuddling his girlfriend. It was nice to think that he could call her that now, his girlfriend. If she wasn't laying on top of him right now, he might float away. It was true, he realized with an absentminded chuckle, she had made him turn into some cheesy bachelor he hardly recognized. The worst part was that he didn't mind.

Damn, she was about to make him cry, too. He can feel his eyes start to burn when she expresses how much he meant to her, his mouth opening to share the sentiment but he just closed it, afraid he would just make it worse by the way his throat constricted with tears. If only he could tell her that she put the stars and the moon in the night sky, or that she could outshine the sun any day.

Greed's chest rumbles at her kisses, reveling in the affection, something he hadn't gotten in so long. It felt nice to be love, but most of all, it felt nice to be loved back. When she offers to go inside, though, he nods with a smirk, the memories of earlier days bringing a bittersweet feeling. He wished he hadn't have been such an idiot back then. At least they were united now, brought back together by fate. Too bad he didn't believe in anything like that.

"Yeah, sounds good." he agrees, then pouts dramatically. "Aw, where's the fun in that? Fine, fine." He grins, begrudgingly allowing her to slip out of his grip. He remembers when they first watched a movie together, when he had been so awe-struck by the technology. He had never seen anything like it before, considering what kind of things they had back in Amestris.

As they make their way into the hut, the jaguar tries to keep quiet, mindful of the cub sleeping in the other room. He also kept an eye out for any crocodiles that might be watching him, waiting to pounce. He didn't feel like losing a leg tonight, no sir.

mostly just a track, but i wanted to put in my two cents!
personally i'm not that interested in a trade or currency system. i also agree with the point that it doesn't seem that popular, either. no one seemed that intrigued by the system sunhaven had when it was around, and i don't really see anyone being interested in it now. plus there's the fact that if someone wanted a merchant character they could simply make one that travels and trades on their own.
but i did really like the astrology theme the ascendants had! i like the idea of combining that with sunhaven's love of nature, as orion suggested, and that elyisum is pretty much a pacifist clan. it would be interesting to see what kind of conflicts and plots arise in the future because of this, too. an adoration of nature + pacifism = a great dynamic!

Ever since she had joined, she had been eagerly waiting for the chance to say the oath, as Rin had told her. She didn't have to do anything like that when she came to Tanglewood, but she wasn't concerned. In fact, she was quite excited. What was there not to be excited about in a new place like this?

The snow and cold winds was hard to get used to, since she had just come from a warm and watery swamp, but she was determined. It would take more than a rough climate to bring her down.

"I'll swear in, too!" she exclaims after Quennel. She just had no idea what she was expected to say.

I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD
He can't help the pang in his chest at the sight of the kit's watery eyes, a frown tugging at his mouth. He doesn't understand what they're saying, given that he had never sat down and learned Spanish, so he silently stands. When she mentions her name among a string of words he doesn't understand, he perks up, unsure how to feel considering he didn't know what she just said about him. Hopefully good things.

He could have sighed in relief when she finally turned to him and spoke in a language he could understand. Keep an eye on him. That was implying something he wasn't too excited for. Brows furrowing, he opens his mouth to speak, but she's already going on, warning him not to be a bad influence. He can't help but grin.

"You hurt me, Rox. I'm the definition of innocence." said the jaguar, lifting a paw and holding it to his chest as if he had been wounded by her words.

Greed's face heats up at the kiss to his cheek but he manages to play it off, watching her leave with a smirk. Now it was just him and Roan. Great.

Coming closer to him, he takes a seat next to the kitten, curling his tail around him comfortingly. Then he's silent for a moment, stiffly trying to figure out what to say. "So," he starts, then clears his throat.
"how's life? Aside from the uh, y'know."

He cringes inwardly at his awkwardness, but otherwise keeps a straight face. He didn't want to leave a bad impression on the kid, considering he was dating his mom and he wasn't too eager to screw up what they had going. It was what he had been hoping for for a while now and it was too early to go and ruin it by being a douche to her son, intentionally or unintentionally.

Elysium? What a lovely name! She definitely liked this place already, with it's nice title and the friendly people. She hoped that maybe she would stay here for the long haul, make it into a home she would return to after her explorations.

Her tail swings side from side happily at the news that she was welcome to stick around, a large smile on her face. It becomes sheepish, though, when she realizes that she hasn't told them her name. With a small 'oh,' she chuckles, lightly smacking the side of her head.

"Sorry! Silly me, I always forget to introduce myself!" she says. "My name is Adelaide, it's a pleasure to meet you all!"

When Lemy goes on about Tanglewood being mean to him, she gives a halfhearted shrug, though her smile doesn't falter. "No, no! They were very kind to me! Sorry to hear they weren't the same to you." It does bother her somewhat to hear that they had been unkind to someone, someone that wasn't even from the Pitt group she had heard about. Were they just rude to everyone else and she didn't realize? She didn't want to think it, but perhaps she had been misled.

A face she recognizes is the first to approach, the serval lifting her head at the sound of steps coming closer. She smiles as a sense of familiarity washes over her at the sight of the canine, though she can't quite remember the name.

"Hi! Yeah, that's me!" she says, beaming. She was happy that he remembered her! She wasn't sure if anyone would, or if anyone she had met before was still around, for that matter. "And you're, um...David!" she squeaks so confidently, even though it was, unfortunately, the wrong name. She should get points for trying, at least.

Then two others come along, a large lion that was pretty intimidating to the small kitten and a hyena that was silent, save for a grunt. She gives them both a big smile, eager to meet some new people.

Hearing his question, Florence nods in confirmation. "Yeah, I did for a little while. Then I got a little lost out in the swamp, but I'm back now!

I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD
He was a trouble child, a nightmare for any parent or teacher to behold. With more siblings than would be considered socially acceptable nowadays, he had to find some way to get attention. His parents were much to preoccupied to care about one of their eldest kids, especially since he was considered the black sheep of the family, the son that smeared their family's name. To hell with them. He didn't need any of them, not when he had his own ambitions in life.

Still, he would have to get through high school, but at least he only had one year left until graduation. After that, he would be out on his own, able to do whatever he wanted. No one could boss him around then. He could get his dream career started. But before all of that, he had to start his first day as a senior.

Greed, after being expelled from his former school for a prank that may or may not have ended up going a lot worse than he hoped for, now had to get settled into a new school, one that he doubted would be any more interesting than the last. At least the guys here were cool enough. His reputation following him, the greasers had immediately taken a liking to him, all of them the same bad boy type as he was.

They all laugh at some comment one of them made, but he's distracted by a car cruising into the parking lot, some fairly attractive ladies seated in the front. But his attention was on the one in the back.

It seemed the intrigue was returned, as they met eyes for a brief moment, a charming grin breaking out on his face. Before he could seize the moment to approach her, she was already walking away, his eyes drifting down to watch the way a certain part of her moved. Real classy of him.

With a new mission, he says goodbye to his new group and makes his way inside, keeping an eye out for the girl from earlier. It isn't long before he spots her, a satisfied smirk on his face as he makes his way over, resting a palm on the locker she was attempting to open and leaning his weight against it, caging her up against it. He's unfazed when she turns around in annoyance.

He hardly has any time to say anything, though, before two people have already come to her aid. He frowns then, glaring at the smaller male at his words, only able to assume that he had called him something unpleasant. Normally he would have put up more of a fight, but he didn't want to have any trouble on the first day. Otherwise Roan would have had his ass handed to him.

"Alright, alright. Don't get your panties in a bunch." Greed says and stands up, removing his hand from the locker and instead shoving them both inside his jean pockets. "Just wanted to say hello to the pretty lady. What's your name, dollface?" He focuses back in on Roxanne, that same charismatic grin from before back on his face, the other two forgotten.

I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD
The wonder and curiosity of childhood was something he didn't have the opportunity to experience, though he had admittedly been awed at the new world he found himself in when he was first created. Just made and with no knowledge of the world, he had no choice but to follow Father, to do as he was told. He trusted him in those days. Sure, he was selfish, it was just in his nature, but he wanted to stick to his side, if only because he had many things to learn.

Now Greed had centuries of experience under his belt, years upon years of watching things being built only to crumble back down into nothing. He had seen birth and death. It was tiring, sometimes, to carry the weight of it all. It brought to him a pessimistic nature, one that would come back to haunt him no matter how much he tried to look on the bright side and hope for the best. He knew that, in the end, good things didn't last long.

Aimlessly wandering about the beach, having just come from the tavern to have a little fun (not that kind, he was spoken for now) and hear the latest gossip, he's stopped when he hears a wailing nearby. Ears swiveling around, he makes his way towards the source of the noise, a frown pulling at his face when he sees Roxie's kid, Roan.

He's hesitant to approach, watching as his girlfriend coddled her son, the jaguar shuffling his paws as he felt suddenly out of place. He still felt bad about the way he acted when he first met the kid. Still, despite the feelings he was experiencing, he forces himself to trot over.

"Hey, is the kiddo okay?" he asks, purple eyes studying Roan behind the shades. Hopefully he didn't scare him, on account of how he acted when they met, or made him angry, even. He wouldn't blame him if he got upset.

I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD
There's a steady beat in his ears, the pound of his heart a fluttering sound, background noise as she speaks. He's trying not to think, trying not to think about what kind of disaster this might end them both up in, so he just focuses on her, watching her mouth move and feeling the warmth of her against him. He wants to cherish this, experience it as much as he can, so he can seal it away inside his heart and revisit it whenever he's feeling melancholy. He wants to remember the way she smiles at him.

He grins, white teeth contrasting the black fur of his face. There's an impish glint in his eyes. "Guess we're meant to be, then. Two dumbasses against the world." When she goes on to bring up that one time she had bit him, he just chuckles, deep and warm. "I dunno, it wasn't that bad. I kinda liked it." he says with a wink. Was he actually kidding, though? Who knew.

Greed's smile only widens, his chest warm and light. He was lucky to even have this moment. Still, he tries not to think of that, or anything else negative that could ruin this. He only holds her, drowning in her. He responds to her purring with his own, loudly rumbling.

"Well, that's the kind of thing ya do to me, Rox. You make me a cheesy man." That's what he would have said, had she not pressed an eager kiss to his mouth. He tenses out of surprise, but once he realized what had happened, he quickly returned the gesture, a wide smile offered to her once they parted.

"Damn, that's the best kiss I've had in a few hundred years." he admits, nose burying itself in her fur when she gets settled on top of him.

He's quiet, then, enjoying the moment, the serene atmosphere of it all. How long had it been since he felt this happy, this fulfilled? He couldn't say exactly, but a long damn while, he was sure. He could have never seen himself falling in love again, not after what happened last time, yet here he was. He couldn't put into words how good it felt.

When she speaks up again, he can't help nodding his head in agreement, staring up at the stars that flickered in the night sky. "Me neither. I wouldn't trade any of my moments with you, not for the whole world." It felt odd to be pouring his heart out like this, laying it all out bare, but he supposed that's what he should do now, or should have done a long time ago.

I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD
As empty as he felt whenever she wasn't around,
a part of him was glad that she had reacted the way she did, a sadistic part of him rejoicing in the fact that maybe she had finally had enough of him. What had he done to deserve such a lovely girl like her, anyway? It was for the best. He hurt her multiple times in the past, and he wasn't ready to do so again, pain being the only thing he could see himself causing had she embraced him. He was a player, so to speak, someone who was good at keeping your bed warm at night but would be gone by the time you woke up. There's a bitter taste on his tongue when he remembers back to when he had done that to Roxie herself.

But oh how he longed for her still, despite it all. He wanted to hold her, to be there for her when she felt down, to dry her tears, and most of all, to show her just how much he cared for her. He wanted to be the object of her affection, just like she was his.

The jaguar sighs, dark pelt blending into the dark around him as he watches the tides, calm and seren under the night sky. It was a good night to make a wish, to dream of something he knew he shouldn't have.

Just before he could make a wish upon a star, the words just on the tip of his tongue, someone calls out his name. It startles him, head whipping around just in time to catch a glimpse of warm fur, a blur of color crashing into him. He lands hard and braces himself for claws and teeth, ready to feel the pain, to defend himself against whoever this may be, but no hits or bites ever come.

He recognizes her quickly, a face that he hadn't seen often but one that was still burned into his mind. He swallows hard.

He's somewhat surprised that she hadn't come to berate him, chastise him for being such an idiot. No, instead she was here with a smile and teary eyes. He wasn't sure which was worse.

"Roxie," he says, quietly, as if he was unsure. He tries to brush off the additional bit of surprise from her sudden shifting; he had seen weirder. "don't apologize. I deserved it, y'know, for being a dumbass." He curses the way his voice strains with emotions, and the way his face heats up when she nuzzles into him, holding him tightly. Stop it.

He hopes that this is just a dream, but at the same time, he would be so happy if it was real. "I'm-" he starts, then stops, scrambling to figure out what to say, or at least how to say what he wanted to without sounding like a big cliche. "I meant it, too. I, uh..Heh, I'm not used to saying out loud. Sorry."

Greed takes a deep breath, filling his lungs with air until they burned, then released it in a hard exhale. "I love ya, too, Rox."

Once it leaves his mouth, he knows there's no taking it back. But he doesn't want to. Wrapping a large paw around her, he holds her tight, his chin pressing into the back of her neck. His heart is beating so fast he fears that it would explode. Even if it did, he would die happy.

"Damn, what did I do to deserve a girl like you? I guess I'm just real lucky."

Tanglewood / Open [ LET ME DOWN SLOWLY ⋆ RETURN ]
« on: January 21, 2020, 04:57:41 PM »
The child hadn't been in Tanglewood long, not until she disappeared. She had met a few of the town's faces, but didn't stick around long enough to get to know any of them, and it didn't matter much when most of them were long gone by now.

Now, dirtied with mud, she sat in the town square, holding her doll and speaking to it. Anyone who passed by would likely shrug it off, deciding it was just some child's play, though most probably pauses when they notice how unkempt her appearance is. She was indeed a mess, to be fair.

"Now what should we do?" she asks, the bell around her paw jingling as she sets her toy down. "I don't wanna go home. Papa's not gonna be happy with us for running away, and this place looks really nice! Can we just stay here?"

Florence looks down at the doll, as if she was listening to it. Then she smiles wide. "Oh, good! I wouldn't want to get lost trying to find my way back." With that, the serval lifts her head and surveys the town, unsure what her next move should be.

She's happy when she saw someone approach, a stranger like she had expected. Her tail thumps against the ground, eager to meet someone new, to settle into a new place and thus experience new things. That was what life was about, she had decided, living it to the fullest and doing everything you could before the grim reaper caught up to you. That's how she wanted to live this new life of her's.

It was a delight to meet someone with the same upbeat energy as her, even if it hid some less than favorable emotions. She did the same thing, so she couldn't judge. If she knew, anyway. When he pulls out a pad of paper and pencil, though, she falters. She had never tried to write with her paws and she wasn't too excited to try.

Luckily someone else came up to save her. "Yes, please!" she says with a bob of her head. Now that that was settled, now for why she was here. "I'm here to join! Wherever this is, anyway."

She acknowledges the last person to come with a nod, tongue lolling out the side of her mouth. "Hello!"
